EA Acquires Swedish Game Company

Electronic Arts has acquired ESN, a 20-person team from Sweden that develops cloud-gaming technology. The technology is used in Battlefield 3 to provide social features, such as chat and leaderboards. ESN made the announcement in a blog post, and an EA spokesperson confirmed the purchase took place in July. TechCrunch first reported the acquisition this morning. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

More than social features, ESN is the group behind battlelog. They're the ones who were contracted to make it, so hopefully we'll see more enhancements come out of this.

I doubt much will change. Just a change of ownership. Then again it's EA buying them which hasn't ended well for many other companies in the past in one form or another.
