prvtparts
Ok my wife had to update her PB on her mac to the new update "v.1.644|A1363|CO.-02" she used the Mac OSX Intel 10.4.11: pbsetup.tgz @ http://www.evenbalance.com/index.php?page=pbsetup.php.... Upon first update, she used pbsetup to install the update. When she relaunched SOF II Multiplayer it wouldn't let her join any server local, Interent or favs and gave a message that "this server requires you to turn on pb" or something like that. But the menu option to change the pb settings weren't there anymore AFTER the update. So she uninstalled and reinstalled the game clean. After she did the gold patch update, we went into the game and the options for pb were there. But when we closed the game and updated to the new patch (using pbsetup), when we relaunched the game, the pb settings weren't there anymore and she couldn't join any server because of same message. Is there a fix for this out there or has any other mac users reported a problem?
Tim
sounds to me like 1: she used the wrong update or 2: you somehow stopped the dl during progress.. When she was finished updating , before she restarted sof2 again, did you notice any new icons on your desktop? When i updated mine 4 new icons also appeared w\ the total update...i'm curious to what you\your wife seen ...

Tim
well,, after mine was done manually , I seen : pbgame ,pbuser, pbsec and pbsecsv all appear on my desktop as new icons ....this was through manual dl of the update ..you should try it again,,to me, again it sounds like the update crashed and didnt finish all the way..thats why now it looks worse then before...if all else fails DONT reinstall the game,,just waite a'bit for the higher ups in here to help more...btw,,when you manually update it,,,dont hit "save" file,,hit "run" when it aks you,,it'll place all the files where they need to go on its own. prvtparts
first, she's on a mac..just to be clear. The process you described is for windows update. Secondly, she attempted both a manual update by downloading the updates from pb and manually putting in the pb & pb/htm folders, and also tried the update using pbsetup program. The program ran in its entirety withoutproblem. It says its updated correctly and to the version the website indicates. So unless pb setup program for mac is messed up, then it should have updated properly. In both instances of doing updates (manually and pbsetup) the same happened - when attemtping to join a server, she is getting the message can't join because pb isn't enabled. But the settings to enable are locked with the new update. Before installing the updates, they were not locked. Locked meaning that area doesn't even show anymore in game to change and I tried changing it manually in the config file itself (changing both pb's from "0" to "1"). Nothing worked. And the game is also consistently crashing since the updates were done, I can't even keep the game open for very long before it crashes. Like I said, she's already done a complete dump of all SOF folders and a clean install. There has to be a problem with the update for mac itself. Tim
I'm just bumping this up to keep it alive ..I spoke w\ a couple of other mac users and it seems they had the same problem and now can only play on non-pb servers now... they all had to fill out support tickets at EB and still havennt gotten 1 reply yet...lets hope the powers here can solve this one :)
Sandrock
Hey pvtparts, you did set the "cl_punkbuster 1" right?? There should also be a "sv_punkbuster 1" in there as well but thats not the one you want. I just wanted to make sure.....
stonecutter
whats this???... "cl_punkbuster 1" right?? There should also be a "sv_punkbuster 1" in there as well but thats not the one you want. I am also on a mac and I'm having the same EXACT SAME issue.. I have tried the PB update and the manual "save as" to the appropriate folders.. both seem to download and give message like the update has been done.. but when you go back to the game the PUNKBUSTER "YES NO" is LOCKED!! It can not be turned to "YES" Feels like some kind of BUG in the game or update??? Very frustrated... I thought maybe a MOD was conflicting.. but i have redone the whole re-install process 4 times (CLEAN INSTALL) and get the same result! Someone please HELP!!! :) OBSERVATION - I did notice that after the gold patch //inside ("application support folder") there are now two folders.. 1-("Soldier of Fortune 2") which only contains the ("lockouts.plist") and 2-("Soldier of Fortune 2 MP") which has "base" "pb" "rocmod" and "servercache.dat" I was wondering if this had anything to do with the bigger issue?? do I need two sets of "base" and "pb" folders?? that make sense to anyone? one set inside the //SOF Application folder ...and one set inside //library //application support //Soldier of Fortune 2 MP **see screen shot attached. Email me... [email protected] pb_2places.pdf
Sandrock
whats this???... QUOTE "cl_punkbuster 1" right?? There should also be a "sv_punkbuster 1" in there as well but thats not the one you want. These are game variables that are basically the game settings; controls and game options......graphics, etc. You should have in your mp and rocmod folders a file called "sof2mp.cfg" at least the Windows users do, and in that cfg file is all the different cvars (variables). If you have these settings in that file, change the cvar and make it say "cl_punkbuster 1". If it works or not please post back with your results... Thanks
