  1. Why not get a better video card? Hopefully your computer has a pci express card slot so buy a good video card and install it in that slot and disable the on board video card that you have been using. Then load up the drivers for your new video card and game away. If you finally buy or build a newer computer then remove the new card from your old computer and install it in your newer computer.
  2. I actually did look up your servers to see the version so I was a little curious about what means the hacker was using to try to gain access to your servers since I hadn't heard of that previously.
  3. You can of course ban them from your server but, it will not go onto the pbbans.com MBI. You can however report the user to their ISP and you can even take legal action against them. You need to make sure that they weren't using a proxy so that you can verify if it's really a known person but, the next question is how do you know that they hacked your server? Guessing the rcon? That's one of the major reasons that people upgraded to the latest version of your game to avoid a player from getting your rcon since previous versions of the game were vulnerable to getting that information if you didn't know how to hide it. There are other programs which are supposed to safeguard your server against someone being able to crash it. So you might want to look into one of those programs that would stop the Q3info boom attack. http://qmm.planetquake.gamespy.com/ is a program that is used to help stop such crashes.

  5. It has nothing to do with 2.60b mentality. This should be common sense for any game out there. There are security holes among other things that have been fixed with the "b" patch. Just like 1.41b in RTCW and other games. Until the "b" patch a hacker using a little program could easily download the server's entire config including the rcon password if the rcon password was included in the config. Before the "b" patch and I was admin of a RTCW server I had to set the rcon password in the command line of the start script. Otherwise anyone who had that program could download the rcon password. If older versions of games offered anything that was better it would be one thing but, I see no benefit for running an outdated version of a game. Other than fragmenting a community of players and it's not an ET specific problem. Spock would have a difficult time in understanding your logic.
  6. If all of a sudden one day the servers were all updated and the people who hadn't updated their client would not be able to play on those servers. How long do you think it would take for all of those ignorant noobs to figure out how to update their game? Not very long.
  7. If you started having your server spam that "this server will be updating to version 2.60b next Friday and that the players needed to do the same thing" they'd look for the update and learn all by themselves at that point. There are actually a lot of RTCW servers out there that run a modded version of 1.0 which didn't come with Punkbuster and they refuse to update. How retarded is that? There's half a community of backwards thinking RTCW players who play that crap and the other fragmented half who play 1.41b. If RTCW had come with a built in autoupdate button then I would have hoped that would not have happened but, to have ET players doing the same thing seperated by one version is ridiculous. Why ever update anything? Because it's usually better.
  8. An even better idea would be to update your game to the latest version. I never understand the logic in someone not updating their game or server.
  9. http://www.evenbalance.com/index.php?page=dl-et.php Pick the server update files For Admins Filename: pbsecsv.htm and copy that into your pb folder on the server and then do a pb_sv_update via rcon and it wouldn't hurt to restart the server afterwards. Hopefully that will get it updated.
  10. http://www.pbbans.com/mbi.php?action=5&ban_id=25858 Is the SoF2 violation that shows up when you do a search for the last 8 digits of the GUID but, apparently the MBI is not limiting cross game searches even when you specify to only look in RTCW bans. Then again, PsB does not limit searches to any particular game. So just type in any 8 digit GUID and it'll show any info for a matching GUID. I have only ever had 3 or 4 times where a search returned 2 GUID's who's last 8 digits matched in different games. It does save a person from having to specify which game they are searching every time as well.
  11. It takes no more server resources to check for the other checks and why would you not want to check for all the known traces of hacks on a player's computer? The more checks the better. Just because there is a switch in the pbsvuser.cfg which tells the md5tool to look in a different mod folder than what your server runs is no excuse to remove those valuable checks.
  12. You were looking at his PB GUID correct? Just the last 8 digits of his PB GUID are all that's necessary. You could post his GUID here and we could tell if there is a problem with it and you would have to look in the SV LOGS folder which is inside the PB folder to look at his GUID after he was kicked. The pbbans.dat file is where the ban list is located.
  13. The pleasure was all mine. I only regret that we haven't caught even more so far from that last input. It's guys like you and Benway who do something with the info so promptly that is making PBBans the premiere anti-cheat site.
  14. Can you please post your PB GUID? So we can look this up.
  15. Well I'm glad Benway had already made this connection because I just saw the new MBI entry and I was coming to verify and you guys already had him hooked. Beware great shooting Australian's.
  16. The MD5tool does not make things up. If the player's game folder contained one of those known hack files and the MD5tool is set to search for them and finds them then it's apparent that they had a hack file in their game folder and that means the player most likely installed the hack.
  17. I have seen this type of screenshot a lot on the rtcw servers that I admin. It's most likely a anisoptric filtering or anti-aliasing setting. Here's a thread that I created to help people get their game looking right in a PB_SS http://www.wolfplayer.us/forums/viewtopic.php?t=147 I don't allow people to keep playing on my servers with their screenshots looking like that.
  18. Tribal Valor is the clan. Konijn 45 Minute Beach is server name. Hub is the method of streaming preferred.
  19. Thanks much and please let me know if there is ever any problem with the streaming.

  21. I just had a player join one of my servers and I looked up his RTCW guid 5b769ef0 using the MPI3 and it returned with the player's name and said he was on the -Tv- server which is what I used but, the date was listed as Date/Time May 19, 2006 at 1:30 am So we're a month off I would think. It is 11:46 PM here CST -6
  22. Can't do much about the shine ;P but, I did upload the picture to pbbans and set the width and height so it wasn't blown out of proportion. Had it using the link from my website but, it blew the resolution up a bit. The streaming process was pretty painless. Hopefully I can get some more hackers added to the pbbans Master Ban Index (MBI).
  23. Topic Title: 67.18.221.194:30000 Server IP: 67.18.221.194 Server Port : 30000 Game : Return to Castle Wolfenstein Clan Tag : -Tv- Co-Admin : N|A and Topic Title: 67.18.221.196:31000 Server IP: 67.18.221.196 Server Port : 31000 Game : Return to Castle Wolfenstein Clan Tag : -Tv- Co-Admin : N|A I have been streaming to PsB for a while and in my pbsv.cfg I have the following lines. pb_sv_load pbsvlog.cfg // Loads PsB Repository settings PB_SV_USessionLimit 1 PB_SV_UConAdd 1 63.171.64.245 pbbans pbbans Those are the only lines that are in the pbsv.cfg so I hope that's all that is necessary. There was no PB_SV_USessionLimit line in that cfg previously so I made that one and added the other line with the pbbans ip. Just did a pb_sv_restart and here's a couple of new lines there so I hope all is well. [06.18.2006 17:13:44] pb_sv_USessionLimit = 1 (0 to 16) [06.18.2006 17:13:44] PB UCON Profile added type=1 mask="63.171.64.245" name="pbbans" Just let me know if I need to do anything else or how I can check on the streaming status etc. Thanks
  24. This last PB update appears to be offering us the possibility to stream to 2 anti-cheat organizations like pbbans.com and punksbusted.com I just read through the new update info and came across the new PBUCON http://www.evenbalance.com/index.php?page=pbucon.php info. It does appear to be a little complex but, hopefully someone can figure out how server admins can stream to both psb and pbbans. If anyone gets this figured out I'll be glad to get my servers streaming to pbbans as well.
  25. Well since you are a game admin why don't you try to talk Sandman into making his mod for 1.4? You should know that there is an anti-server crashing patch and there is no reason why Sandman couldn't make his mod completely compatible with 1.4 and have some cheat protection. There are a lot of people playing Sandmod and 1.0 servers and it's ridiculous to anyone who wants to be up to date. The game is 4+ years old and it's time the beginning wolfers join the rest of us. Why separate a community like this? There are a lot of emtpy 1.4 servers out there just waiting to have some new players and people who play 1.4 would be glad to have a new mod to try and even more of the mod creator would run with the players suggestions on how to improve their mod. I know I wish Bani would finish up his last Banimod version since it needs a few little things done to it to finish it up right. Heck, I wish OSP would change a few things with that mod as well but, they've given up on it.. Sad to have someone working on the oldest version of RTCW and the majority of the RTCW players will never play it because of the hassle of having another RTCW application just for 1.0 and not having any cheat protection. I wish the game manufacturer would make it so that people had to update their game to continue playing it.
