2020 has been a difficult year for many and sadly it has hit someone in our community. HSMagnet who joined the PBBans community in 2008 suddenly passed away on Sunday.

He devoted countless hours helping keep our community running and served as a valued staff member for over 4 years. He will be dearly missed.

We would like to express our deepest condolences to his family during this time. His family has setup a gofundme page for anyone that wishes to help.

Is it because I'm running firefox that the news isn't showing up on the main page anymore? Also the theme for the forum seems to be different as well, like the css even and odd child you used to have and the fonts looks different.

Seems the API had a small glitch which should be fixed now. The theme is a bit different and the fonts have changed based on what the default skin had.

  3. Sometimes it feels like no one who is involved in game give a crap about cheating. Reddit for modern warfare has posts about cheaters almost daily at times. It has come to light more now that PC is crossplaying with console players.

And this is one of the things they did.

Anti-cheat update: Killcam & Spectate reporting functionality will go live this week in #Warzone and #ModernWarfare, adding another way for players to report suspected cheats. We have zero tolerance for cheaters.

Still takes a long time for players to be banned it seems. ofc the console players see that and think all will be fixed and I usually reply. "Same promises, different year".

It amazes me that in the case of cod they have been making yearly games for 17 years but nothing meaningful has been done to prevent cheating. Same can be said for other aaa games too.

Devs created this mess with no server admins, no kick voting etc so cheaters have no fear. Devs control everything in games today and they don't give a crap about it.

It's that time of year again where 2019 is coming to an end and 2020 will be upon us in a few short weeks.

Not a lot to post about this year in regards to our community. Player counts in Punk Buster enabled games continue to decline but we will be around so long as the demand and funding is there.

A big thank you to CU – DizzyKipper who has given far more in donations every month to keep our community online. Relying on one person to donate far more than they should have to is not something we like to see. We hope others will step up in the new year if they are in a position to do so. We also understand communities are moving to new games too which impacts donations.

To our donors, streaming admins and other supporters, we wish to thank you for all your support to keep PBBans alive over the past year.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from all of us at PBBans.

  5. I tried the beta and it's a step towards bring back the cod4 / mw2 feel but has all the issues that turned me away from cod years ago. Ground war is 32 vs 32 which is a good playercount but tdm is still 6 vs 6. Matchmaking with pre-defined playlists is also a turn off. I got bored after a few rounds and went back to playing single player gears 5.

does it have dedicated servers i can rent/own?

Doubt it but with 20 vs 20 tdm and maybe others they need to use dedicated servers so at least that is a start. I'm just happy they are finally going back to larger player counts. I couldn't stand the 5v5 and 6v6 crap year after year.

Also they plan to do cross platform between pc and consoles so it will be interesting to see how they keep cheaters out of the console world.

Every design decision has been made with our players in mind,” said Patrick Kelly, Creative Director and co-Studio Head, Infinity Ward. “With the launch of Modern Warfare, we’re taking steps to unite the community. First, we plan for Modern Warfare to be played together across PC and console through cross-play support. Second, we’re eliminating the traditional season pass, so that we can deliver more free maps and content as well as post-launch events to all players. This is just the beginning – there’s much more to come

Denuvo Anti-Cheat prevents cheaters from manipulating and extracting data or code to gain an advantage over other gamers. The solution makes use of the latest hardware security features offered by Intel and AMD, combined with Machine Learning of game-agnostic process metrics, to ensure no false positives and maximum detection of cheating. Developed by security experts and video game enthusiasts, Denuvo’s technology has no impact on the gameplay experience and its non-intrusive reporting methodology ensures the developer’s workflow is never impacted.

Please note: in this article, we are intentionally leaving out some of the key details of our anti-cheat efforts to avoid revealing anything which cheaters and cheat program developers may take advantage of.

What are the top five things DICE is doing to prevent cheating in Battlefield V?
    1) Working on better prevention, hardening the PC client against exploits.
    2) Scaling up detection efforts.
    3) Investigating supplementary deterrence methods which can work alongside banning accounts.
    4) Investigating methods of improving the reporting flow, including easier reporting.
    5) Keeping up to date with the latest cheat developments and reacting to them in a faster and leaner manner.

How are you identifying cheaters in Battlefield V?
We use a combination of in-game and server technology, such as FairFight, along with information from external websites, player reporting, and social channels. Having worked on anti-cheat for a long time, we have the knowledge combined with a refined set of procedures to identify cheating. However, finding the cheaters' unique identifiers and issuing bans based on them is not a silver bullet. Cheat developers work tirelessly to get around these methods, which creates a cat-and-mouse game in which we constantly need to be vigilant.

  11. In regards specifically to RSP, I'm going to keep it simple. You haven't seen an update in our direction with RSP because we haven't made a full decision internally whether or not we can deliver it.

RSP needs to meet standards and your expectations with the tools we provide - that takes development resources. It also needs to make economical development sense - we can't introduce a feature that ends up costing more to keep maintained than it returns (I know that statement will open up more debate, and I encourage that, but this is the reality of the situation). In other words, we don't want to impact development resources of main game Quality of Life commitment and upcoming content by routing team bandwidth to RSP development. There's also financial implications here that go well beyond my remit. Let's tackle the former before we tackle the latter.

That said, is RSP off the table? Not at all. Our teams need to weigh this carefully and either commit fully to the service or not provide it at all - and you need an official statement on what that decision is once it's been made.

Well another year is coming to an end and 2019 is just around the corner.

We came close to shutting down this year but thankfully our host gave us a great deal that cut our operating costs substantially. We also upgraded our forums to the latest version after years of putting it off do to incompatibility issues with the website.

To our donors, streaming admins and other supporters, we wish to thank you for all your support to keep PBBans alive over the past year and previous years. With our lower operation costs, we hope that we don’t have to consider closing anytime soon.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from all the staff here at PBBans.
