  5. http://www.egmnow.com/articles/news/battlefield-3-mod-tools-still-being-considered-no-timeweather-change-in-multiplayer/ Bah, sick of static maps. Simple lighting changes can really give a different feeling to a map. Even the light source direction makes a difference. http://img684.imageshack.us/img684/2765/crysis22011040314083064.jpg http://img571.imageshack.us/img571/9933/crysis22011040314085165.jpg Doesn't have to be done in real time, maybe it could be randomized when the round starts. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fNXwmocQnVk
  6. It was not a ini that could easily be edited. I was able to tweak it because it was not packaged by DICE properly which ment there was a lot of areas saved in plain text and could be edited using a hex editor. That file would be useless now.
  7. I think it's more of a dig towards DICE and their server policy. I'm on MW3's side for that department. About time a AAA dev woke up and realized that public server files are important to a lot of us.

  11. I have a feeling they don't want people to cancel pre-orders because their PC can't handle 64 players. Even at 32 players, the alpha was hard on my i5-2500K and GF 460GTX. Looking at BC2, it runs smoother with 24 players, MoH was 24 players, BF3 TDM is 24 players, consoles are 24 players. 24 seems to be the magic number with lower to mid range systems and I think many will get a rude awaking when they try to play on 64 player server in BF3.

  14. Best to join the RO2 steam group at http://steamcommunity.com/games/RO2 to get updates
  15. RO2 has bugs but Tripwire is very committed to fixing the game. I got that impression during the beta. Lot of patches, most late at night, on weekends, holidays etc. I can see RO2 lasting for years to come honestly. Hell there have been many PB integration fixes over the last few weeks while BFP4F has been out for months and not a single PB related fix has been released. It's also nice having server files again which are awesome for debugging problems. I can find bugs easier, faster, send crash dump files and they get fixed faster. As an example the latest server patch replaced the PB client DLLs with outdated versions and caused lag. Wouldn't have found that without access to server files to see what got updated etc. http://forums.tripwireinteractive.com/showpost.php?p=887848&postcount=12 And for anyone that remembers BF1942, that was one hell of a buggy game when it came out. Helps when you have 200+ devs and a publisher handling QA vs the ~35 that Tripwire has and they do their own QA as well.
  16. When a new client and / or server patch is released make sure they're running the latest version of PunkBuster. Steam and HLDS replaces the PB DLL files if they don't match but they can be outdated which least to clients and servers running older versions of PB. They rename the PB files they replace with a "Copy of " prefix. Latest PB version info can be found at http://www.evenbalance.com/index.php?page=support-hos.php for RO2. Issuing the pb_sv_ver command for servers should show this in the server and pb logs.
  17. Battlelog may be free but I'd rather have the sheep pay for CoD Elite to help cover operation costs than charge an extra per slot fee to rent servers. Paid CoD Elite features doesn't interest me anyway.
  18. We have enabled streaming support for Red Orchestra 2 with the release of a new PB server update. RO2 must be running PB server version 1.837 or later for streaming to work correctly.
  19. My biggest issue with RO2 is the WW2 setting. I just can't get into it like the rest of the WW2 shooters out there. Now if someone makes some modern day mods then I will look at it. I was interested in BF3 but the more I hear about it the more I want to stay with older "modern day" games. But Ro2 is the #1 WW2 game I played since I didn't give up after 15 minutes :)
  20. Streaming isn't supported yet. Still a show stopper bug with the PB log events that needs to be fixed first.
