It's true that there are many servers where you will be accused of cheating and even get banned with no evidence you actually cheated. I and many others am banned from servers like this. I was banned from /NEVADIE/ just last week and had been kicked from that server MANY times under different aliases purely for getting a high ratio. This is sad but nothing we can do much about. I tried repeatedly and politely to convince them to check out pbbans to see who I was and to educate themselves on what to look out for if you suspect cheating. They refused to believe anything I said even when I pointed out one of their members is on our banlist for playing with removed textures. Seeing this shot they accused me of fabricating it myself and even after I gave them the link to the pbss checker program they refused to accept even the possibility it could be a genuine catch. One thing these servers that regularily accuse and ban people for "cheating" with no evidence have in common is... they are not members of pbbans. On the subject of attempting to set up Spazz {OUR}'s server admin as well as others did at first think it was Spazz untill I showed him it wasn't. It was widely known it was you and not Spazz amongst server admin by the next day. All you successfully managed to do was get banned from TWL, suspended from CAL and I don't know what else as a result. Spazz didn't get banned from any server on "hearsay" as far as I know because they didn't have his GUID to begin with.

He is a good player that's not the problem. The thing is he's now hooked on people accusing him of cheating, he lives for it. so much so that he uses names like "[GA][AutoAimBot]", "PrototypeBot" and "I wrote my own program" which he used the other night in AMD. I was playing in AMD for a bit (badly) but went out to the kitchen for a smoke and a drink. When I came back he was going on about me making a demo of him or something and I even made the comment "Wow, you must love yourself". I didn't know who it was at the time and wasn't making a demo at all, I was actually responding to some stuff in IRC and someone on msn, I get hit on msn and IRC a lot being CAL admin and pbbans admin. Because he seemed so sensitive to me going to spec and assuming I had some kind of interest in demoing him I looked him up, as in my experience it's usually only people up to no good (or restrict) that would take much notice of who goes to spec, and saw who it was on the MPI. Ahhh, that explained it. It's Mr. I'm awesome and you must think I'm cheating to be this good. Quite amusing really. What's even more amusing is that he will probably think I'm lying and believe that I was in fact making a demo of him and I doubt anything I say will change that in his imagination. I haven't made a demo of anyone for ages as I haven't noticed a cheater in the public servers for ages. Then again, I haven't been playing all that much lately and when I do it's at 2am ish. I play sof2 in a little window on my main monitor and have IRC etc spread across both monitors so I can be contacted easily. (Unless I'm in the kitchen smoking, the wife won't let me smoke in the living room :P )

EvenBalance's "Repository" Software
SirRobHiFi replied to RodeoBob's topic in Streaming Questions and Troubleshooting
The beauty off this system is the ability for us at this end to parse out stuff easily. Say for example you have cvar logging enabled, we can have certain cvars flagged (searching for keywords like "aim" "wallhack" and so on) and if anyone on your server has cheat cvars we'll have that info at our fingertips. Manually browsing these logs for stuff like that is extremely tedious. -

Sure, Bob will hook you up. :P We should be aiming at EVERY server using this. -
Have you tried deleting and re-entering your CD key in-game? That has fixed the global ban issue for many in SOF2.
-
To be honest we don't care about non-PB servers. If PB is not enabled it's an open invite for cheats as far as we are concerned... and they wouldn't be able to get your PB GUID anyway.
-
Heard that more and more recently... "I had downloads on!"
-
It sounds to me like you're saying you had tweaked a bunch of settings prior to PB being implemented with SOF2 or at least prior to these settings being checked by PB. These settings were giving you an advantage in the game and PB classified these as an unfair advantage and therefore a "cheat". As far as pbbans.com are concerned a sv_cheat.log from a trusted server admin IS proof as it was PB that kicked you and wrote the violation into the sv_cheat.log. I have no reason to think you were set up by the admin that supplied the cheat.log so the ban will remain. We started this site only a few months ago and the ban list even more recently. We have included bans going back a long time as some of the server admins involved have had their servers running for a long time now.

From EB site:

You can have just as much fun on non-PB servers and they basically deserve to have cheats on them. Stay off the PB servers with cheats tho cos people there actually want a fair game.
-
Did you miss that part? Read this thread: http://www.pbbans.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1307 BTW, what we do is nothing personal. All we do is compile a ban list based on catches using PB software and demos. Server admins then choose whether to use our list or not. Whether you continue to cheat or not doesn't bother me personally but sooner or later you'll get GUID after GUID banned. Either by us, the other site, quakeshit or by the makers of PB software EvenBalance themselves (Global Ban). This one catch is enough to get you a lifetime ban from some of the leagues though so forget about trying to join a league like TWL.

Global bans are directly from the makers of PB software EvenBalance. They have nothing to do with www.pbbans.com or any other anti-cheat site so don't even bother posting here about you getting a Global Ban. From EvenBalance : Having said all that Global Bans seem to pop-up occasionally on clean players. If this happens to you find your cd key file and delete it then re-enter your cd key in-game. This has been known to fix bogus global bans for most people.
-
We have nothing to do with Global Bans. It's called a Temporary Ban List just because it's the temporary version. The bans on it will be on the final version also.
