Custom Skins

Hi to all, i've found a tutorial on a website that says hot to use custom skins on pure servers, it can be done renaming some files in main directory, it says:

PLEASE!!! double check the renamed files before moving to step 4

 

step 4) SKINNING TIME!!!! this is when you go and download your skins from Fpsbanana for COD4. make sure that it is either a weapon or scope skin, other wise it wouldn't work!

 

when you download and unzip/unrar your skin, you would have either one of these or the other: ".iwi" skin files or ".iwd" skin files

(.iwi and .iwd are file extensions, example: zz_menu_music_ak47skin.iwd is something you might get)

 

unfortunately ".iwi" files WILL NOT BE SUPPORTED IN THIS TUTORIAL, so any .iwi skin tutorials will not be covered here because i am unable to get them to work (sadly).

 

YOU MAY DOWNLOAD AS MANY SKINS AS YOU LIKE, SCOPES INCLUDED, JUST MAKE SURE YOU HAVE 1 SKIN PER OBJECT YOU WOULD LIKE TO SKIN OVER THE ORIGINAL.

 

step 5)Renaming time: this is VERY important. if you rename it incorrectly, your skin will NOT appear.

for every additional skin, increase the value of ** by one unit value. DO NOT SKIP VALUES, YOU MUST START AT ** and work your way up. if not your skins will not work.

 

drag/place your renamed skins into the "main" folder.

 

 

The Cuestion is.: Its that a Cheat ?

Depends on the skin.

If the skins gives an obvious advantage (IE: character skins which increase the visibility of players) it will be counted as a model hack.

 

If in doubt leave well alone.

i'll give you an example that would be rated bannable offense for obvious reasons
