CHOPPERGIRL
The BF2142 Demo Server uses a whole different master browser server list than the BF2142 full game server. Its the same for BF2 Demo server and BF2 Full game Server, they act as two seperate distinct games. They maintain different lists of game servers available, as well as seperate independent databases of players with different GUIDs. If I have an account on BF2142 demo named CHOPPERGIRL, with GUID 77, for example, it does not mean I have that account on BF2142 full game. Someone else may have registered that name, or if not, I will have to create it there, and then I am given a different GUID, for example, 113. I want to run PBBans for my BF2142 demo server, but before I do, I want to make sure the name bans and guid bans I'm streaming up to the PBBans 2142 list, are not going to inadvertently ban innocent unrelated players with names or GUIDs that happen to match cheaters by happens stand in the BF2142 demo players list, and cause utter havock, as well as likewise not get lists of bans for GUIDS and player nicks on the full side that don't match on the demo side. fozzer
As far as I am aware punkbuster updates for BF2142 are only available for the full game and not 2142 Demo servers. Also as far as I am aware this post is still valid; click me
Crotan
In addition to that 2142 demo EA master servers are being shutdown the 11th. So I wouldn't get too attached to any server you start up http://www.ea.com/1/service-updates ONLINE SERVICE UPDATES The decisions to retire older EA games are never easy. The development teams and operational staff pour their hearts into these games almost as much as the customers playing them and it is hard to see one retired. But as games get replaced with newer titles, the number of players still enjoying the older games dwindles below a point -- fewer than 1% of all peak online players across all EA titles -- where it's feasible to continue the behind-the-scenes work involved with keeping these games up and running. We would rather our hard-working engineering and IT staff focus on keeping a positive experience for the other 99% of customers playing our more popular games. We hope you have gotten many hours of enjoyment out of the games and we appreciate your ongoing patronage. If you have further questions about your account or the shut down of these services, please visithttp://support.ea.com.
