UBISoft Ditching Always-On DRM

But not so over at Rock Paper Shotgun. They’ve been known for scathing interviews in the past, and now they have a new one in the wake of a landmark decision from Ubisoft: The company is ditching its intrusive “always-on” DRM policies.

 

The announcement says that Ubisoft’s games going forward will require one-time online activation, but will not require a constant internet connection to play, and you will be able to play titles you own offline. It’s not no DRM, but it’s certainly less restrictive than the Draconian policies the company had in place before.
