SkilleT
Hi, I have a common issue which is disconnecting from a game server due to PB service communication failure; initialization failed. I have updated my PB manually (PBSVC.exe and PBSetup) successfully. I also took Windows Firewall off which was a risky move that I won't perform again for good. Last but not least, I have downloaded a few files (.htm and .dll) from Even Balance Inc. The issue occurred unfortunately. I'm using Windows Vista, maybe this is the main issue. Anyhow, this issue can be fixed some way or another. Waiting for help and responses. - SkilleT Edited January 16, 2010 by SkilleT
HSMagnet
does this happen on all servers or just one/a few? could be a connection issue or not running with admin rights or maybe you need to run in compatibility mode
SkilleT
does this happen on all servers or just one/a few? could be a connection issue or not running with admin rights or maybe you need to run in compatibility mode 1) This happens only on few servers but I wish to get rid of this issue as soon as possible. 2) How do I run it as an administrator or in compatibility mode? Either one of these could help me out.

{BFK}Brit_FK
I run vista on may laptop and desktop (32bit/64bit). I also use norton 360. and have no issue running any PB games on either system. The only issue I've had is to ensure PB A&B are allowed full access via norton along with the game in question. But generally everything works fine, you do occasional get kicked for communication failure but I think that is more down to the server connection as mentioned previously. My Firewall has given full rights to go through so it ain't blocking any programs related to ET. Any other answers?
HSMagnet
just because your firewall is not blocking, does not mean you are not having communication problems with specific servers you could have bad hops between you and those servers you said it only happens on a few servers what kind of pings do you get? run tracert on those IPs from a cmd prompt and see if there are bad hops
RoadWarrior
To run as Admin, simply right click the game icon and select run as administrator. To add the functionality of this permanently, simply right-click and select properties. In the box that pops up you'll find the compatibility tab, select Windows XP SP2, and put a check in the box that says always run as administrator, click apply and ok and you should be good to go. Works the same way in Windows 7, for anyone wondering. RW
