client exploit that crashes server

Has anyone else had a problem with a client crashing a server? Lately we have one malicious attacker who seems to have the ability to kick everyone from the server. We get a "illegible server message 0" message upon being kicked. We tracked him down and banned his entire IP range but trying to find out how it is done to prevent further attempts.

we are running the updated ET with Shrub. It still works unfortunately.

Shrub never fixed the exploit since it was based on 2.56 source.. Use ETPub or ETPro they have both fixed the exploit.

Everyone using 0.5.1 or 0.5.2 should update if you use shrubbot. The !showbans command can crash the server. :)
