When server is set in Official game mode, admins cannot ban, kick, kill....

Not sure how many of you rely on "quick match" for ranked servers on BF3, but I can say our clan does.

 

Official is the only type of server that will allow players to join through "quick match"

 

If a server is set to official admins cannot:

Move player

Kick player

Kill player

Ban player

Use reserve slots

 

So basically, you can set maps, set a name, and play... That's it.

 

The only thing I didn't see was punkbuster being disallowed to ban players or kick players, which maybe a way around this "issue".

I wouldn't have an issue if the quick match option could be used for both ranked and unranked.

whats really the diff between official and ranked anyways, (other than the CMD for kill, ect)?

Basically no:
- make room for VIP option
- banning players
- kicking players
- moving players
- killing players with admin
- no disabling commander
 

Quickmatch will only go against official servers. Also, the ping site setting is taken into consideration; players will have a slight preference to game servers which belong to the player’s closest ping site location.

The documentation is actually wrong about most of the Official commands -- the restrictions are generally more tight than it indicates.

Oh great what a great way to solve the badmin issue. Im feeling negative about this now, am I going to be wasting my money with empty servers again? Whats the point in having a server and losing half the control to get it full whilst paying quite a sum of money a month for the privilege or lack of. They will always give people headaches. If this doesn't work I think im gonna give up renting servers I've just about had it.

I just can't wait until BF4 is released so that I can hear the complaints come flying in from everyone... :D

 

It will be the same people saying: "Yeah! BF4 is awesome!"

 

Then a week or two later they say:

 

• "Why am I crashing to desktop?" or
• "Why is there a lot of lag?" or
• "Why is Punkbuster kicking me for no reason?" or
• "Why is Punkbuster showing as disabled after a few minutes?" or
• "What is with the servers crashing?" or
• "Why is the back end down again?" or
• "This game sucks, I can't play!" or
• "Up yours DICE!" or
• "I want a refund, NOW!" or
• "My server is blazing again, WTF!" or
• "My Origin account was hacked and now I am banned, HELP!"

 

Yup, I can hear it now. Complaints coming in left and right. It's the same thing, different game.

 

Just remember, when it starts happening, I will be the first one to say, "I Told You So!" :)

'official' limits server admin capabilities severely, yes. Such servers offer a consistent game experience which is in line with what Quickmatch players expect. You are part of an in-game community and you will probably find that 'ranked' suits your community better. You will not get Quickmatch traffic but there are multiple other ways via BL that you get traffic.

You left one out SuperTaz 'why the hell does the admin keep killing me over and over' ........hmm that'll be this new awesome thing called Fairfight, which will be on by default on ranked and official servers.

 

Glad all our servers will be in ranked mode only, can't do jack about fairfight but at least we have admin control.
