If you elect to have your server stream via the EDOM account, you are entrusting EDOM to keep everything up to date and ticking over nicely for ya. They do a damn fine job of it too :) It's like sending your kids to school. Your entrusting someone else to take care of your baby while you get on with the day to day stuff that life throws your way with no extra stress that kids give ya :P Now you have taken your kid out of school and decided on "home education" so to speak, you have a lot more forum access etc because you will need it to stay on top of things.
