It's nice to finally have a gaming league on-board with the Zero-Tolerance factor in-place, and one that thinks like PBBans does, with refuting cheaters, and refuting all bans that the configs produce. Other gaming leagues need to take a hint from this one, regardless of their abilities here. I personally will promote FGL to others as a result of their stance on anti-cheat. Zero-Tolerance is the only way to go!

Quick update, after working through some of this directly. Server seems to be having communication errors with evenbalance servers. Ticket is apparently on the way, and will likely be resolved in a short time. Most players according to viol.log are getting kicked for communication errors of various sorts, but nothing related to cheating other than the very random 9001 kick and even these are not showing a ban atm. Could well be a server-host issue, possibly related to evenbalance-side issue, only time with the ticket in will tell here. Looking at the logs, over 75% were for comfail alone.

You could manually create a folder called svss and then target is as the save to point within your pbsv.cfg file. pb_sv_SsPath "svss" //[Path where remote screenshots are saved]

Stranger things have been known to happen. Perhaps post a sticky on your own forums for your members to re-enter their CD-Key via the game. With COD4 this is an option within the game options. Other than that, all I can suggest is that you manually update the server by downloading the htm files from evenbalance and place them in the appropriate place(htm folder) as well as update the windows.dll or linux.so file from evenbalance as well, and then restart the server. You may also want to contact your host and see if they're having issues on their end. A bad router/switch could possibly cause this sort of problem and it may not be directly related to pb/evenbalance or pbbans.

Why am I getting kicked for PB Guid Auth: UNKN? The "PB GUID AUTH: UNKN" kicking means that your Game client is not sending a valid cdkey to id's cdkey auth server. Usually this is due to a problem with your cdkey entry. Exit Quake3 and then use your Windows explorer program to find the baseq3 folder where Quake3 is installed on your system and delete the file called q3key. Launch Quake3 directly and before you get to the game's main menu, it should ask you to enter your cdkey. Be sure to enter the 16 character cdkey from your Quake3 cd-case in all lower case letters. NOTE: If your cdkey has 18 characters, then you are not finding the right key. Team Arena keys have 18 characters, Quake3 keys have 16. If this does not fix the problem, then perhaps there is some type of firewall or security software blocking your game's communication to id's cdkey auth server. Be sure that UDP port 27952 is open for clear communication if you have a firewall or some type of security software. Note: A cdkey is only valid if you bought the game and have a cdkey on your cd-case! Using a cdkey generator will allow you to overcome the checksum check within Quake3, stating that your cdkey is valid - it is only valid for single player though and will not allow you to play on the internet. http://www.evenbalance.com/index.php?page=faq-q3.php COD games are based on the Q3 engine, to a degree anyways. Information is still relevant.

They're stored in the svss folder inside of your server's pb folder.

8800 Nvidia Cards and Black Screenshots
RoadWarrior replied to siskin's topic in General Discussions
From what I'm seeing on my own server, ss timing seems to play a bit of a role in the matter of black ss as well. I also have an 8800GT in my system, and most of my own screen-shots come back normal, but the odd black one still appears here and there. I've also noticed that players who have higher-latency or ping times tend to return more black ss than those who are closer to the server and have lower ping-times. -
http://www.pbbans.com/account_application.php Start with the account application. The only server info we need is your server's IP/port. FTP information is yours alone. The rcon commands force certain configs to be written to your server's pb folder, and thus the settings will be remembered once pb is restarted.
-
Start with opening the console and entering /rcon_password "yourpasswordhere" , hit enter, and then use the commands. You're likely just not logged into rcon from within the server itself.
-
What game, and any specific error or kick-reason?
-
Also look for duplicate lines within both configs. If you've added checks over and above the stock checks or the pbbans checks, it is possible one part of the config is looking at one cvar range while another is sending it a different check.
-
Every once in a while I've run into that particular error, where it refuses to add the IP to the uconlist. If you've uploaded the pbbans_hub.cfg file to your server, the entry should already be there, and that's why you're getting the duplicate entry error. What I've used in the past, as a work-around, is to manually add the line to my pbsv.cfg file and restart pb or the server. Add this line to the bottom of the pbsv.cfg file, and try my above suggestion and see if it gets you up and running. pb_sv_uconadd 1 64.27.21.46 pbbanshub pbbanshub

No stupid questions, just unasked ones. ;) PBBans is a seperate entity from PB itself. Basically, what pbbans does is provide cvar and MD5 verifiable checks that can be added to your pb configs to check beyond what pb does by itself. All info is based on fact, and knowing what to look for. Streaming provides us with logs to verify your server's catches of llamma's that use in-game cheats we know about and can check for. PB in itself is a great tool, yet it can always be improved upon, and that's really what pbbans strives to do.

Server not streaming any more

Should have your profile updated soon, then. Welcome to the world of streaming at it's finest ;) ;) -
Servers No Longer Streaming

Did you restart the server or pb? -
Server not streaming any more
RoadWarrior replied to riggles's topic in Streaming Questions and Troubleshooting
http://www.pbbans.com/forums/index.php?sho...t=0&start=0 You probably need to enter the new IP into your config for streaming and restart pb or the server for it to take effect. -
PBBans has been the most effective in my time of streaming, and that comes from being here long before being asked to be staff, as well as through several different games. I've streamed to PsB in the past, but for reasons of my own, left them behind. Any league that would limit it's venues for keeping their league clean and free of cheaters is playing the game with eyes wide shut. It's kind of like saying that filling the second tank of gas on your car won't help you go further, should the vehicle have such an option. Apparently the first tank will go as far as with both filled? You're only fooling yourselves. Multi-streaming just closes the doors further on potential cheats running on your servers, and I encourage it. Being limited to only one? That's pretty much like saying you can walk into a buffet, and only eat the salad.
-
HLSW can do that for you without you altering your game's default configs.
-
Not sure if it's related to streaming, but check your configs for duplicate entries to command the server messages to be shown if in seperate configs.

The pbauotss feature may cause lag to some degree if you have the timing set to close together. Having run on both Windows servers and Linux servers, I've also noted that Windows servers tend to suffer from this issue, where Linux servers do not. No explanation as to why that is from end, just something I noted. As far as pb itself causing lag, I've never experienced any. the pbbans configs definitely won't cause any lag or noticeable changes to how your server runs. One thing to note is that your host may just not have enough bandwidth, or may be running your server on an over-sold box. That tends to be the more common reason for server lag of any kind, yet hosts don't ever want to admit to it.

How exactly do we handle hackers not detected by PB?
RoadWarrior replied to glory908's topic in Call of Duty 4
By and large, those types tend to avoid servers that have pb enabled, and do their best to avoid servers that are streaming. Incidently, the ban-list for COD4 is getting rather large. -

Getting your server streaming goes a long ways to helping pb detect those cheats being used. -
You have to be in-game to see PnkBstrB.exe. If you leave the services window opened, and minimize the game(Windows Start key works), then refresh the services, B will show, providing you're attempting to connect to a pb-enabled server.

Noticed an issue with voting on my COD4 server the other day that forced me to turn it off, as well. Couple of random kiddies came in, started voting for map changes, and eventually got enough of their buddies on to force it, along with game_type change from something other than my server runs. Seems this will be an annoyance for a while until server admin turn the feature off and start banning for it. Gave the kids a temp-ban at the time, but they do try it again here and there, and I'll likely start local-banning for the issue. Not sure if the vote issue is as bugged as ET is, but with ET, votes could be run from the console even if it was disabled on the server itself, so be aware that this could happen, and it will become annoying if the kiddies figure that option out.
-
I'm not arguing that point. ET, it needed to be done, without a doubt. COD4 is a bit to new to know, just yet, and it supports dual graphics cards. Would be a shame to see a game that does limit fps to what one can attain just because people won't buy into it, where others will. Punishing those that will seems pointless, and this becomes a bit of a moot-point in that regard, really. ET supported one vid-card, and much lower-end hardware as a base. When higher-end hardware became available, I also noticed the difference in game-play, even with limitations on my own server, for the game. Now that I have high-end hardware, I go onto servers I've helped people set up, and can roll them, where they used to roll me daily when I had my crappy system in comparison. This does define a grey-line, for server-admin. Limit it to much, you don't get players, don't limit it enough, you don't get players. You have to balance it a bit, and choose carefully. COD4 doesn't really perform well with anything above 80fps, with my personal setup. 667Mhz RAM, 680i Nvidia chipset, 8800GT OC2 512MB and a core2-quad Q6600 running on an ASUS P5N-E SLI motherboard. I've got room for one more vid card, can hold 125 fps solid, but expect a real diff of maybe holding 2-300 tops with the second. FPS fluctuates to much to bother running higher, imo. Perhaps I just perfer the steady aim. That's the way I've always gone with tweaking fps. I could care for jumping onto things less.
