Have you updated your PB? What operating system are you running? Have you also checked to make sure your firewall/AV allows PB to connect properly?

You can run a file while it's not extracted, from a zip folder. I'd be telling your buddy to start checking for all the other "goodies" those hacks usually install.....everything from keystroke-loggers to other little "presents" the coders like to add that also install themselves on your pc while running the programs. I had a chuckle a few months ago when one of the regular non-clan members came on using a hack because, and I quote " He asked if he should hack, and someone said....go ahead!" He promptly did that, and was added to the pbbans ban-list, and then came posting on WT forums for help/forgiveness, and adding that he had no idea the hack would be so hard to get rid of, or just how much crap one of them could install on a person's computer......lol If server admin and their chosen fellow admin read the disclaimers(stickies) here, they clearly state the rules. One "mistake" can drag your entire crew down and cause you to lose your streaming privelages, no exceptions. Good luck with the appeal and EB ticket. And thanks to PBBANS for sticking to your quality over quantity ideals! Incidently, I'd have to say the admin here are some of the most pro-active forum/server admin I've ever met, and very helpful as well. Just the people who get busted tend to have a "negative" experience.

Try uninstalling the game, delete the folder that ET leaves behind, then re-install it.

Having a bit of a clan-issue, trimming things down. Remove WT-EasyTarget, -=W.GodWorthy.T=- , and thelostsoul. They've gone on to start their own thing, and are looking at streaming at some point, but not on my clan's account.

If your firewall is set to allow the game to connect it really shouldn't be an issue. BF2 checks your connection and adjusts itself accordingly when you initially set the game up, so that shouldn't really be an issue, some other games require you to choose your connection manually when first installing/setting up. Everyone is a bit different when it comes to connection types though. Do you use a router? Are you on a wireless connection or are you connected directly to your modem/router? Cable or ADSL/DSL connection? Those might also be details you'll want to include with your troubleticket to evenbalance. More info is always better, so that they can narrow down your potential issue and come up with a solid answer. Some other things you might want to include are some system specs and operating system as well.

Falls into the category of a PB hack, if I'm not mistaken.

I've had some issues recently with gameservers not setting the proper read/write permissions to certain folders. Sometimes you can change them yourself by clicking on the appropriate file-folder and selecting the option, other times you have to put in a ticket. Along with that, if they have not set you up with permissions to view, the files could be there, but you may not be able to access them. I've had to send in a ticket or two regarding this, and they've always gotten me fixed up. My advice, if the above fixes have not worked regarding viewing your ss's, send them a ticket with as much detail as you can. It can be a very simple fix on their end if they know what they're to look for.

You're having connection issues with the server you're trying to play on. There's no real way to say why that happens to some and not to others, other than there's always a difference in a person's type of connection, as well as distance from the server in question. I see this in a lot of games, and the bulk of the people that run into it are trying to game on a wireless connection, where others simply have not configured their game or internet connection properly.

I've played the demo a few times now. Both against the computer and on demo servers, and have also found it to be a little to much like BF2 for my personal liking. I'm not sure that I'll rush out and buy this game on release day, as it completely lacks the feel and the fun that I've come to love about RTCW and ET. Here's hoping they don't make a mess of RTCW2.

Might want to consider burning ET to a cd or dvd along with patch-updates the next time you download it, and save yourself some time if the need arises again. I did that a long time ago, and aside from having had to add a patch or two to the cd, it's been one heck of a time-saver. Try the driver updates I recommended, and see if that sends you in the right direction. Sometimes a driver can go bad with windows, especially if you install something else that might alter it a bit. One other thought that comes to mind, as well. Check and clean your heat-sinks on your graphics card, cpu and chipset, and perhaps give your power supply a good shot of compressed air as well. Dust and dirt add to heat-issues, and it's good to clean those things out once in a while anyways. Won't hurt to add that to your list of "to do's".

Is there a specific error coming up when ET freezes? Sometimes, believe it or not, it's as simple as deleting a few map pk3 files from etmain. ET has this lovely little bug in it where, if your etmain folder has to many maps in it, it can cause similar issues to what you're describing. Some things to consider. How long has it been since you formatted? You can save your etkey to something like a floppy or a USB drive, or a second drive on your system, if you need it for league play or admin-purposes to a server. You could also simply try re-installing the game. First use the add/remove option(after saving your etkey, found in etmain) Then delete the file-folder left behind in the directory you have ET installed in. (default is C:\program files\enemy territory). After that is complete, re-install from scratch, then simply slide your etkey back into the new etmain folder, update PB with pbsetup.exe from evenbalance.com, and see what happens. I'm sure the *nix guys are chuckling a bit, but I have to admit, the one major weakness of any Windows o/s is that need to install things fresh every once in a while, including the operating system. If you want, perhaps I can offer some personal help. Get a hold of me on xfire at wartornclan or msn at [email protected] and I can maybe walk you through a few things. I've spent a number of years helping others trouble-shoot such game issues, and sometimes a little one on one helps more than a post here and there does. More than happy to help a fellow gamer where I can.

First off, what operating system? Second of all, PnkBstrA starts when your computer starts, and when you load a PB-based game, PnkBstrA starts PnkBstrB when logging into a PB server. Both operate as a Windows Service, and need to be granted permissions from your firewall and anti-virus programs in order to run, or you'll run into such issues as lock-ups and random server kicks.

To change admin rights, be logged in as main admin of the computer(if you have more than one user and are not already the ONLY and MAIN admin of it) Second, right click on the Icon that starts your game, and select "Run As Administrator" for an option, then click apply and ok, and run the game. Vista won't run games properly until you do that, and that worked for me with ET and BF2, so I can't see BF2142 being any different, or any other game, for that matter.

My hat's off, regardless of how many hacks a given server-admin has gleaned from using the configs. This site is a service to all of us that want to game cheat-free, and is only improving as time goes on, and more information comes to light. Keep up the good work! I'm sure I'm not alone in the three pages of replies that say thank you for doing what you're doing. You're doing it well!

What operating system? Might lend a hand as well, to post some system specs/info. A 0 minute restriction means something is out of whack, but is not a hack, per-say. Just means it doesn't agree with PB, but not knowing what o/s you're using, or what hardware or driver versions you're using can leave this open to nothing but a best guess. Also, have you tried updating to the latest PB revision? www.evenbalance.com and download pbsetup.exe and run it, update all your pb-related games.

I've always been amazed at those that want to stream, then they try a cheat, and get banned, and beg for forgiveness. I've never personally been that curious about how a cheat/hack works. I do know I get pretty ticked off when someone comes onto a server I'm playing on, and uses one, and basically destroys the fun the server's current players were having, so I see no reason to even bother checking out what it feels like to be on the other side of that coin. Can't see it being much fun to own everyone, not die, or die rarely, and be able to hit everything within the corner of my eye. Lamers! I get the odd one on my servers who was a regular, who has decided to try a hack here and there, and when the cfg's ban them, they beg me to remove them..... Hate to say it, and the comment can be edited by admin if need be, but sympathy is found somewhere's between shit and syphillis in the dictionary. That's my take on hackers and their parade of stupidity.

Game Integrity is usually related to a player being kicked from a server for one reason or another(anything from timing out/lost packets, pb_init failure, and a number of other "normal" conditions for being kicked) The player is recieving that error simply because they didn't restart ET, as a general rule of thumb. It's generally not something worthy of banning someone for. Especially considering the latest pb update is causing players all sorts of grief until they figure out what's causing it not to function properly for them. Seems to be different for everyone. Everything from firewalls blocking it, to not having it running as a service under main admin-account, etc.

I should have also mentioned. Make sure your firewall/anti-virus programs are not blocking one or both from working. Symantec and Mcafee are both known to consider the files as something worthy of blocking, at least currently. Other a/v vendors may do the same.

True enough, I suppose. Either way, I'll take it as a good sign that we're not getting as many hackers on the servers.
