If you're using xfire, try turning it off. It's been known to cause this. Vista users may also experience this if they're not running the game "as administrator". Simply right click the COD4 icon on your desktop and select "run as administrator" from the drop-down menu.

COD4 server won't stream
RoadWarrior replied to ΞRRΞRockΞ's topic in Streaming Questions and Troubleshooting
Could try this method if you haven't already. 1. Unzip and upload both pbucon.use and pbsv.cfg from the method 1 folder to your server PB folder. 2. Restart PB with pb_sv_restart or restart your server 4. Post your serverIP/Port as the topic title, state it's for the PBBans Hub, game server type (Ie BF2 or CoD2) and clantag. example: Topic Title: 81.132.85.17:27962 Hub RTCW ::llama:: To verify, after restarting PB type pb_sv_uconlist in rcon, it should give the following response: PunkBuster Client: [slot] [Type] [Mask] [Name] PunkBuster Client: 1 1 64.27.21.46 pbbanshub PunkBuster Client: End of PB UCON Profile List (1 Entry) Remember you do NOT have to download anything else besides the pbbans_hub_cfg.zip file -
A cracked server allows anyone to connect, hacker, cracked cd-key, etc, and does not check for valid registrations of the game. Enough said, those are not welcome here, and won't be streaming. Period!

COD4 server won't stream
RoadWarrior replied to ΞRRΞRockΞ's topic in Streaming Questions and Troubleshooting
I spilt the tpoc because of the difference in games. COD4 is much different than BF2 or BF2142, so it merits the task here. Hope to see you streaming soon, if you've not got up and running yet. -
And I thought I was twisted....lol.... that last one's just warped mate!

scroll to the top of the page and click on the irc link if you really need it. ;) PBBansIrc as it's named near the top of this page.

I don't personally get a ton of time to level up, but then again, that's not why I play the game. Once you've gained a few levels up, though, it's not hard to get them faster and faster. If I play a few hours a week, it's not hard to gain at least 3-4 levels per session.

Wireless would be the bigger issue, here. Wireless cards tend to overheat, and thus start to lag out. They've never really been a good gamer's option when it comes to type of connection. Distance plays a big role in this issue as well. This is why I suggested plugging into it directly, to test if the problem goes away or not.
-
Quick suggestion. Try turning off xfire while in-game. Xfire itself is known to cause such issues with various games.
-
I have a couple of questions. What type of internet connection do you have? Secondly, are you using a wireless router and wireless card? This sort of issue is common with people who play on laptops set up this way. Try moving closer to your router, or plugging into it directly with a cable from your NIC to the router, and by-pass the wireless altogether if that's the case. Alternately, open your console and enter in /cl_maxpackets and a number from 35 to 100, you may want to try a few different numbers here between that range, and see if your problem goes away, or at least improves a bit.

To protect yourself against the vote kicks, server admin should set themselves up with punkbuster player-power via rcon. This is actually explained rather well on the evenbalance.com site under Enemy Territory, but it applies to all punkbuster-related games. The big ticket here, for main admin, is that they can give themselves the power to veto such votes with the stroke of one key that they choose to bind to the task. Usually voting is related to F1 and F2 for PB-related games, 1 being yes, 2 being no. If someone starts a vote to kick you, simply hitting F2 will veto the vote, no matter how many of them vote yes due to the fact you've set yourself with 100% power. You can alternately change the percentage for secondary and so-on admin, depending on how you run your server/clan, etc. http://www.evenbalance.com/publications/et...htm#playerpower

Does Automatic screenshots cause the server to lag??
RoadWarrior replied to =)BiT(=Clan's topic in Call of Duty 4
I've got them turned on on my COD4 server with no issues. You may want to increase the time-limit between screen shots and see if that helps any. Some server hosts do tax their boxes and if you're located on such, you may find they do cause issues such as players not being able to move or random server reboots if hardware is really pushed to it's max, but that would be a server-host issue at that point. -
enable punkbuster
RoadWarrior replied to mad4itpete's topic in Streaming Questions and Troubleshooting
Have you enabled PB from the in-game menu? Sounds to my like you're just turning on the filter to sort pb-enabled servers from non pb servers, but not actually enabling pb for the game itself. -
I believe that thread was related to ET specifically.
-
Should not be an issue to stream here as well, but you may need to get on irc and talk directly to an admin to get it all working. Not entirely sure how AON works.

enable punkbuster
RoadWarrior replied to mad4itpete's topic in Streaming Questions and Troubleshooting
Are there any pb errors coming up on your screen? Or is it just saying that you need to enable pb to play on "said server name"? Some players end up having to download the htm files manually from evenbalance.com and put them into the pb folder, and then run pbsetup.exe once more afterwards, to make sure that it updates properly. -
Something I want to add here, btw, and this is just something as a food for thought idea, here. You're running a laptop. Laptops, even when dedicated to being a gaming laptop, are not ideal gaming machines. Laptops suffer from heat, mostly due to shoving all those parts into a really small space, with limited ability to cool them down. Your average PC has a powersupply that has it's own fan, a vid card that has it's own fan, and at the very least, with bare-bones systems, at least one case-fan, but in this day and age, more likely several. ???? When was the last time you even saw a laptop with anything more than that tiny little fan at the back...something like 10mm, to exhaust the heat? Heat causes slow-downs like you won't believe, yet so many keep trying. You can buy cooling pads at your local pc-store that will help cool the system down a fair bit, and they will also help extend things like battery life in the long run, but are no whooping anything, compared with a real pc, for gaming.

The wireless connection may well be your problem. Don't know how many times I've seen someone with that connection interrupted icon above their head in ET, but 99% of them were on wireless. Wireless just isn't meant for gaming, and if you want it to work, you've got to spend money on a really high-end router, and more than most people want to bother with, btw. My thoughts there, since wireless routers generally also allow for wired connections, go get yourself a cable, plug it into your NIC and router, and test to see if that's your issue. If there's no difference, then we need to troubleshoot elsewhere.

Sometimes your internet connection is the problem, and players may need to put in a ticket with evenbalance to resolve issues regarding that. There are settings that you can research on the evenbalance.com website, as well, to slow down your connection a bit to the master servers, if your internet connection isn't particularly fast. Off the top of my head, something like pb_sv_wait and a setting that is integer related, but without going onto the site atm and scrolling through it all again, would not say to quote me on that. Make sure things like your maxpackets settings are working in your favor, as well as your maxfps setting, as both play an integral part in ping-time, communication to servers, and to how well your game performs. Something that plays a huge part of things is actually your hardware. The higher-end it is, the better your game will perform. I'll give you an example that I personally went through recently. While having a high-end motherboard, and decent mid to high-end ram(667Mhz, not top dog, but good enough) and a 4-core processor, my game did not perform all that well, even with graphics turned down, and had some issues with this or that, related to pb. Grabbed myself an 8800GT, and my ping dropped almost 30 pts, and a lot of those problems went with the old card being laid aside. Who knew? :scratchchin: In any event, when making a post like this, it's more important to let us know some system specs, as well as operating system, and perhaps type of internet connection. If you're on wireless, that could change things from being hard-wired to a modem, vs being on a network with a router that may not be properly set up, etc. Lots of variables to work with, give us some details and we'll do our best to help you sort them.

Patience is sometimes a virtue, in catching the lamers. Perhaps a bit of vigilance, and a new demo, now that our new friend is streaming his servers, and we'll nab the lil prick head on. ;)

Did your server stop streaming? If so, for how long? Streaming status is relevant to you making sure your server is up on the streaming list and active, after about 3 days, your status is revoked. If you've not been involved in hacking, that's likely the case, and it would require you to research a bit into your server, and make sure it is actively streaming. I've run into a few personal issues with streaming in the past where I simply need to run some rcon commands to get my server active again, and various other admin of streaming servers have run into the same, so it's not the end of the world, here. This thread should be of a major help, as it's helped me in the past as well. http://www.pbbans.com/forums/index.php?sho...g+rcon+commands If you need more help, by all means pm me, or jump on the irc channel. More than willing to help out where I can, and admin here are always around on irc to lend a hand with things.

I'll add one feature to that list...... reducing HUGE font! ;)

Stock files from one version to the next of the game will have different MD5's. Simply put, if it's coded in french, it won't be the same as the english version, or the german version, etc. Is there a point to scanning these files, really? Can you provide proof that hacks can get embedded into these files? Or are you simply referring to "hooks" that we're already looking for?
-
Have not had any such problems, and run my server with 1.4 patch as well as my game's install. Update your PB with pbsetup.exe and make sure that both a and b can run in automatic mode as services.
-
Have you tried updating it again using the pbsetup.exe file? If you don't have it, download it from evenbalance.com Also, if you continue to have issues with PB, perhaps put in a troubleticket with them as they'll be able to help you troubleshoot the exact cause of your problem.
