I don't know why my COD4 GUID was banned
fozzer replied to luiz127's topic in Hardware and General PC Issues
The pbguid, which is a 32 digit hexadecimal hash of the game cd key was used to cheat. The same cd key has been used in Australia / Canada / Denmark. The player from Denmark was the one that raised the bannable violation. The player from Denmark was the first player to use that cd key when connected to a PBBans server (Apr 16, 2008 at 9:57 am) If you bought the game from a retail outlet you can try for a refund. If you downloaded the game, buy your own version. A complete scan of your system for malaware would be advisable. -
Seeing as this issue is prevalent for you on all servers points to a crap isp. I will assume you have DSL ATT based on a quick IP check. The "speediest" package that ATT offer is rubbish for $35 Downstream Speed: Up to 6.0 Mbps Upstream Speed: Up to 768 Kbps Key words = up to. That means it can be a lot less :P

The ban appeal is ongoing. We are just waiting for EvenBalance to verify wether the violation is valid or a false positive. EvenBalance always have the last word on bannable violations raised by their own software. If they rule that the violation was not raised in error the ban will remain on the MBi. If they say the violation was raised in error, we will lift the ban immediately. Its that simple.

Another option; http://angryemployee.com/page.php?20

You have a forum member account Bro. If it was you that raised the bannable violation you would not have a full forum member account, but a severely restricted forum account. The game cd key was first used on a PBBans streaming server by a player from the USA on Aug 08, 2008 and it was this player that raised the bannable violation. Were did you buy your game cd from ?

The pbguid (which is a 32 digit hexadecimal hash of the game cd key) is banned for VIOLATION (PB HACK) 132056 http://www.pbbans.com/mbi-viewban-0edfa98f-vb100611.html The game cd key (from which the pbguid is derived) has been used in 3 different countries USA/Belgium/Portugal. The violation was raised by the player from the USA, thats why you have a member forum account. Our policy is to give cheaters nothing, and that extends to a full member forum account. The ban has never been appealed and if it is, we will only accept an appeal from the player that raised the violation. **moved to correct forum section**

From a British army perspective :P Every pay raise I got, the cost of accomodation went up at the same time leaving you with a 2-3% pay rise (if you were lucky) You made more money serving oversea's because that entitled you to local overseas allowance and normally the accomodation was free (or a nominal sum) Hence why I stayed out of the UK for 4 solid years at one point :) Civilian penpushers will never get the reasons why servicemen are willing to put their lives on the line, day in, day out, and I guess they never will. They will never experience the comradeship and the sacrifices/risks that you are prepared to take for your fellow Brothers in Arms. All they are interested in is cost cutting and penny pinching. When I served my time, I fully intended to sign on again after a few weeks break. A friend asked me to help out, doing a labourers job in a shipyard ... I was staggerd to see my first pay packet. It was near treble my army pay, and I was at the top of the tree (pay wise) when I left the army  From then on it was a civilians life for me, lots more money and no bullets whistling around your ears.

I would like to point you here; http://www.pbbans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=82423 Specifically this line; We will automatically deny any application if the server IP appears on the MPI (Master Player Index) 213.114.132.48 appears on the MPi and is therefore blacklisted, you are of course welcome to try streaming this server to another anti cheat organisation.
-
Yea, like a broken record. Most of us will complete the SP game in a couple of hours, we buy for the MP side of things, and all what we have known thus far re MP gaming has been thrown out the window. The one positive thing (yes, I am trying) is that it may be better and fairer than the present dedi server system we know and love. I guess time will tell, but unless I see exactly what I'm buying into, my cash stays in my pocket

pc gaming is not taking the VAC route Bro. Some games use VAC and some use PB. The problem is that IW/Activision are trying out a brand new way of making pc gaming a level playing field by using steam/IWnet and that will include a fee of some sort I guess, not looked too deeply into it because I have cancelled my preorder :) VAC was probably the easier option for them, thats all. For all their sanctimonious blurb, my personal opinion is that IW/Activision have been working on a way to get even more cash out of gamers pockets and the end result is IWnet. The communities that will really feel the effects are the map/modding communities and probably the competitive gaming scene as well. I hate forcasting the future, but all I see at the moment is a game developer trying to milk the cash cow for all she's worth. I hope I'm proved wrong :)

A lot of birds come home to roost imo, and have all contributed to the present demise. piracy: COD4 forces a pbguid relax setting of 7 on server admins instead of 0 after every map resart, and can only be kept at 0 by proactive admins setting a pb task, its an issue that was raised right from the start, and is still ongoing. It makes it so easy for someone who downloaded the game and uses a keygen to find servers to play on. IW/Activision and to a certain extent EB have hardly been proactive in combating the issue of cracked servers. So I was surprised at Fourzerotwo expressing surprise at the amount of piracy that is prevalent at the moment. For someone who supposedly has his ear to the ground re issues such as this, it should have come as no surprise at all. anticheat: I can only assume that the better package that fits in with the IW/Activision future plans is VAC, because PB is by far the better anticheat option. All the PB whiners are in for a real treat when they get a taste of VAC in action. Then again, the ease with which cheats can bypass PB software is disturbing, and without the support of private anti cheat sites would be a lot worse. A 2 minute kick for raising a cheat violation hardly shows confidence in your own software detection techniques, and I have always been a firm believer that PB should be the ones to issue permanent bans for cheat detections made by their own software. Innovative detection methods are required and the punishment should fit the crime. PB or VAC, VAC or PB ... those are the viable options for game devs when deciding on an anti cheat solution, and the steam/IWnet factor must have made it a no brainer decision. profits: Any commercial enterprise is interested in one thing only ... the profit margin. A company selling a product will not set a fair price, they will set a price that their market analysts believe the market will bear. Based on the resounding success of COD4 they must think that joe public will pay a hefty price tag for its successor. If they think that punters will pay to play on servers provided by IWnet and they can make even more profit from that avenue, then thats what they will do. conclusion: You never know, this may be hailed in a couple of months time as the way forward for pc gaming. The only thing that will make IW/Activision rethink their marketing strategy is if MW2 fails to sell as well as their marketing analysts think it will, and more importantly if IWnet fails to deliver. The pc gamers that read these forums are but a tiny percentage of the potential MW2 customer base and I believe that despite all the hullaballoo that is raised by the various pc gaming communities, MW2 will still sell well. This will, in their eyes, vindicate their decision to effectively ostracise the pc gaming communities from MW2 (especially the competitive side of things) and they will continue to ride roughshod over everyone as long as the money keeps rolling in. Do not let any game developer tell you that they care about the end user and what they think, the lot of them are in it for one thing only and thats ca$h. And yes, I am a cyncic. :P

I think this is the ban link RW; http://www.pbbans.com/mbi-viewban-b7abe25f-vb125581.html

Get your "friend" to buy you a new game cd. Bans are placed by pbguid only, regardless of who was pushing the buttons at the time. A valid violation will never be removed from the MBi.

As far as I'm aware, gv do not accept demo's as proof of cheating

You were sent a forum pm on Jul 11th 2009, when a ban from Feb 2007 was brought to our attention re this clan member; http://www.pbbans.com/mbi-viewban-b7e6ceac-vb19477.html Jul 20th 2009, there was still no response from you so the team account was suspended. Over 2 months later this is the first query we have had from you, and the banned clan member is still listed on your roster. The evenbalance response to his appeal; Big_Guy21 is the staff member to contact if you wish to discuss this further. -

Much ado about nothing seeing as the team account has no streaming servers added to it :P
-
Not quite sure this is what your looking for, but here goes. When you view your profile you will see a 6 digit number in the address bar ... for example yours is 146382. The actual number is dependent on when you joined PBBans forums, mine for example is 690.
-
You check out clean as far as PBBans is concerned, hence you still have a member forum account :P
-
A team account is not a personal possession as such :) its a PBBans team account. So please be aware that before changes are made a routine check will be made to ensure that the validation protocols outlined here; http://www.pbbans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=82423 are being adhered to. The forum section you were looking for is; http://www.pbbans.com/forums/index.php?showforum=436

What am I doing wrong?
fozzer replied to heavyD370's topic in Streaming Questions and Troubleshooting
All none streaming issues are always client side. Once we add a submitted server to a team account our work is done. If you have tried this method of initiating streaming; http://www.pbbans.com/account/webtool.php What was the output result ? Have you tried this method ? http://www.pbbans.com/info-center-hubguide.html#bf2cc Once you get the streaming initiation commands correct, streaming will kick in instantly. -
All the information you require is contained within the ban link; http://www.pbbans.com/mbi-viewban-a5ffd5ea-vb110788.html A player with a pbguid of d0c162c43376359e41620907a5ffd5ea An IP of 217.88.173.23 [Germany] And an alias of VXR| xXx was detected on a PBBans protected server with a known cheat file in the game directory. The streamed log data reads; ->PBSV: MD5Tool ["PBSS.dll" SZ5340 AT0 LEN2048 70C25E76263B639ABE0EBA581942488B] from (slot# 11) VXR| xXx 70C25E76263B639ABE0EBA581942488B is the streamed MD5 hash of the file detected (digital fingerprint) which happens to be an exact match for the cheat file we have in our database. The pbguid (which is a hash of the game cd key) has been used by players from Estonia and Germany. The reason you are able to post as a member is testament to the fact that the bannable violation was actually raised by the player from Germany and not you. This does not change the fact that the pbguid was used to cheat with and will stay on the MBI. What should be concerning you, is how this guy got hold of your game cd key. I would recommend that you run a full scan for malaware on your pc. Although the bannable violation was raised by a German player, it was you who appealed it and it was you that a mail was sent to, informing you that the appeal was denied (check your junk folder)

Looks like a successful fix has been applied. Nice1 :)

Get your host to reinstall and fully update PB :)

All none streaming issues are client side Bro. All we do is add a server to a team account and our work is done :) If your absolutely sure that you have followed the streaming initiation guides to the letter and are still getting no joy, then that would lead me to think that the PB install might be corrupt. Try getting a response from your server to some basic PB commands. I.E. pb_sv_ver or pb_sv_homepath What response did you get from the automated webtool ?
