Added New Server IP, Deleted Old One

So while I wait for my forums access to be re-instated (won't make this mistake again) I'm getting a "Packet Ignored" error on my new IP:

PB UCON Packet Ignored "PGL"@70.76.32.216:23001"

Occasionally it has weird brackety things next to it.

My CP says I'm currently streaming...so....what's the deal? What'd I break?

First off, we don't support a PGL league group of any kind. I get a couple of hits via Google, but they're not for PC gaming.

Google your error, no hits. You seem to be the only one. I'd remove any ucon stream commands from your personal configs that do not tie into sites you are actually streaming too at this time, and then simply restart punkbuster from your particular rcon tool.

Incidently, I had an issue with people at one point within my clan using other admin tools that also use ucon, that thought they needed to stream their local IP directly to it, and were constantly adding their IP/port to the ucon configs. Much as I tried to explain that external tools such as rcon tools for admins don't need that, it kept happening and they kept adding them as fast as I could remove them. Hopefully that is not your case, as it will cause a fair number of errors.

Rcon tools don't work the same way(even using ucon) as streaming does.

A good example of this is Morkeye which uses ucon to run, if you run it from your local PC like I do(not server-sided) but it doesn't require me to stream the information directly to my PC with a seperate ucon IP address/port. I know there are other programs that do use ucon as well. Remember, if you keep adding ucon IP/Ports that you're not actually streaming proper information too, you will get errors.

A group of old TWL Staff started up a league PGL. I don't know the specifics on it as I only visited the site once but a few members of g2 or clan goat Russd3 and Ciph3r are the ones that started that league up. The website is

http://www.perspectivegaming.com/forum/

for reference.

Thanks RW - I appreciate the input.

However the only RCON client I have running on my server is PrCon so in an effort to isolate the issue, turned off both ProCon and the autobalancer on my remote machine and watched the PB console from my local. Same message:

"PunkBuster Server: PB UCON Packet ignored "PGL"@70.76.32.216:23001 []"

I'm with Gameservers.com - and like I said, today I moved from their LA DC to their Dallas DC. They kept my server's GUID along with the move (so as not to throw off the server browsers and what have you).

Again, no PGL league supported here. If they have their own streaming issues, you'll have to take that up with them. The googling I've done thus far points to a PS3 Console league, nothing to do with PC gaming. Simple google, and it's not the same link posted above. Recommendations are still the same to fix the error. Add one ucon stream at a time, if you get errors, it's within the configs and needs both parties to become familiar with one another, as well as support one another, to fix it. At this time, you do not see any supported league that flies the PGL flag to us, and there's no known anti-cheat group that flies under it either, afaik. That's where the issue lies, and I'd lay it down to someone adding something that should not have been there in the first place.

Most likely a clan-member who mis-understood something, but had access.

Not a lay the blame game, just something to be sorted out, is all.

I get that - I wish I knew what PGL even was - I've never been associated with them and don't plan to (if they do, in fact, exist). Frankly, I don't care, I just want to get this sorted. I'm the only person with CP level access to my server (through my GSP) so I don't think that's an issue either. Mayhap I have to talk to them about it? I'm going to drop my pbsv.cfg on you, which should be straight from the automated tool:

Those would be the two issues I could see.

I had the second one at 16, with no issues on my COD4 server, first one....that's a massive wait-time for anything relating to pb.

I do apologize, but this IP is registered with PGL so the repo tries to connect. The issue is simple. . . . the server belonged to someone else previously and the IP was not "Un-Registered".

I have removed it from PGLs database, and you should no longer see this issue.

Thanks PBBans for bringing this to my attention. Also, I do apologize to the user for the issue. It is resolved.

Would you like to provide us with a link directly to your group so we could check on this in the future and at least be able to trouble-shoot? It would be nothing more than a common-courtesy, and not asking to much. We don't step on other streaming services. We would like to be aware of them, in case of such issues in the future. Even if you've used ours in the past.

Please allow 30 minutes for the repo to stop attempting to connect. It is designed to automatically connect to the servers ONLY listed in the master server list (it will STOP trying to connect to servers that are not).

I'm still waiting for PGL to provide a click-able link, rather than make me copy/paste it. If someone from their end hasn't figured out how to do that yet, not really to sure I want to know them.

Incidently, repo, or rep-streaming and ucon don't collide. You had a very state-of-fact ucon error. They're either using ucon and don't know how, or.... and I'll leave what comes after this for higher-up staff to deal with. But I'm smelling something I don't like right now..... Might want to check your six on the GSP if that's what they're cookin'.

So what's the next step, ya think? What would I bring to my GSP?

Now, will someone explain to me (slowly, as if to a child) what a repo is?

Why is he getting ucon errors if you're using the rep method?

A repository is a repository. Im not using the default method designed by EB. Im using a PBUCON session just like you guys. I simply meant a Repository (Depository) for logs.

Also, on a side note, I plan on setting up an account similar to what I had when I was apart of TWL. Maydax set most of that up, however ill be more then happy to send you whatever info you will need.

This is not relevant to your GSP. They will not be able to control who "connects" to your server. The log line represents the fact that PGL was "trying" to connect to your game server and the connection was refused (working as designed by evenbalance). The only reason you are seeing this line, is because someone signed that server up to "accept" the connection and now that they no longer own the server (you do) its still attempting to connect (but being refused because your not allowing it in your scripts).

Hope this helps.

We have protocols here. Your configs are apparently causing issues, and you're not a supported league? Perhaps send that message out to those who have installed them, and do so pronto.

You can PM me directly, and I will pass on your information as a league that wants to use our services. If you want to also have your own streaming services directly, or a league configuration, then you can PM the league config requirements to MaYdaX directly, and he'll tell you if they will work. As of right now, they apparently are not.

As of now, cease and decist on putting out those configs you're running, they're obviously not working!

Ouch.

Umm, ask your admins at PBBans.

A PB UCON repo does not work the same way a "pb_sv_logaddr" works.

It will not connect unless the software is designed to open the session. Meaning: If the server is not in a database that the program can read and open the session, it will not open the session.

Ill try to break it down.

His server ip used to be owned by another clan. They registered the server because they were a beta tester for PGL and wanted to stream to PGL using the same method PBBans, and GameViolations uses (PBUCON). The way it works (here, and there) is the server needs to be registered and put into a list that will allow the program (or repo) to connect and open the session. If the server does not have the scripts installed (to enable the session) then no connection will be made. It does not have anything to do with someone "not knowing how it works" especially coming from you. I do apologize and am not trying to be rude. . . but its a VERY simple issue.

Server IP: 68.232.164.53

Registered at PGL for PBUCON streaming.

Owner closed the account, and the server IP was given to a new customer (jschmuck2 did you recently by this server from gameservers.com?).

The IP: 68.232.164.53 was never unregistered and removed from the PGL database (its PBUCON just like PBBans and gameviolations), so the software automatically tries to connect to the servers that are "registered". I removed the server from our DB so the repo software (or shall I say PBUCON) is no longer attempting to connect.

The exact same thing happens to PBBans on a regular basses simply because if someone running "PBBans" configs stops paying their bill, and someone else picks up the IP. . . PBBans will attempt to connect and be refused.

Its the way the system works. . . . Read up on it.

As of now, cease and decist on putting out those configs you're running, they're obviously not working!

From what i have seen from the above posts is that the PGL Scripts are working just fine just like PBBans.

if i go thru the server Registration here at pbbans and put in the streaming info everything is good but if i remove the PBBans streaming info i would be getting the same thing a PBUCON header mismatch as the PBBans repo would still be trying to connect to my server but the UCON profile would not be there to allow the connection

Also, on a side note. PGL was in beta testing when the "beta tester" registered his gameservers.com server with us.

I can't help the fact he decided to go elsewhere, but what I can help is a very simple system that you guys at PBBans mastered long ago. Please get a consultant from your programming team to respond before you go asking me to cease and desist.

Has the issue resolved itself since your original post (user who had the issue)?.

I would suggest we take this to pm, or irc. Our servers formerly owned by another clan can't be added to a new clan until removed by a former clan. Small glitch, I guess. Over-site, as it were. Would be something to implement.

As far as the league aspect is concerned, you still need to contact me directly, not via forums, but PM, or IRC.

I just moved my server to that IP today - I understand the problem now and thank you for fixing it :)

No need to fight over lil' old me, boys.

And yes, things seem to have cleared up!
