Strange, doing punkBuster.activate didn't have the same lasting effect, as in it would only temporary enable PB. wouldn't be able update PB. However doing the below with the short 1-4 minutes of PB being on: pb_sv_enable then pb_sv_update seems to have worked, the server stuck with PB on and updated successfully to 1.880 Of worthy mention: pb_sv_enable PunkBuster Server: PunkBuster Server for BF4 (v1.869 | A1388 C2.327) Enabled pb_sv_update PunkBuster Server: Master Query Sent to (MASTER2.EVENBALANCE.COM) 50.62.76.68 PunkBuster Server: Player List: [Slot #] [GUID] [Address] [Status] [Power] [Auth Rate] [Recent SS] [O/S] [Name] PunkBuster Server: End of Player List (0 Players) PunkBuster Server: Received Master Security Information PunkBuster Server: Download Request for htm\vs001880.htm Sent to (BF42.EVENBALANCE.COM) PunkBuster Server: Kicking for new violations has been temporarily disabled per PB Master Servers - use the pb_sv_enablekicks command to manually re-enable kicks. pb_sv_plist

I'm sure it will. There was something like a 7 month gap between the PC and Console releases of GTA IV. So expect the same.

I too am hoping it has matured since it first hit the gaming community. In my own experience with it, it just kills and yell spams me. Not the anticheat I'm looking for.

I use Sophos now, before that I used Symantec and before that I used McAfee

I always forget but does Relic also do the Metro series? the Total War franchise is bad ass, and I've loved every one of them. Came in at the original Medieval Total War. Can't wait for the next Rome, Total War!

Joining PBBans as a Streaming Game Admin can be achieved in 3 easy steps: Create a forums account. (If you have one goto step 2) Setup your servers to stream using the PBBans Hub Guide. Signup for a Team Account. Verify your account has been setup by visiting the Forums. Sounds like you might still need to do #3

How to tell if a server is running PBBans prior to entering
Crotan replied to Knives*'s topic in General Discussions
That's just PB enabled, he wants to know whether they are streaming to PBBans. The servers do list the IP and port on the description page. And as Kite has posted, taking the IP:PORT and plugging it in here is your best bet besides server title. But even then you should be cautious of server title alone. You'll see servers that claim to be "PB-Streaming" in which case they are only running with PB on and not actually streaming to any anticheat source, and jumping on the bandwagon. Always check, and develop a list of favorites known to be streaming. -

I'd agree with player hosted servers being the bane of Multiplayer gaming. Dedicated servers or bust.

EA to "re-think Origin", may wish to re-re-think
Crotan replied to HSMagnet's topic in Gamers Sanctuary
Yea I don't know, I think the whole Sim City debacle was a huge wake up call for them. However, I can't remember the last time I fired up steam since getting heavy into BF3. I think they recently tried to turn the battlog friends list into a show if logged into origin with an icon and show without the icon when actually in BF3. A patch they really borked and had to revert. It's come a long way since EA downloader, and integrating Twitch streaming into a free client is something I fully supported them doing. But in true EA fashion they broke PBSS in the process, which has since been resolved. They have great ideas but some of the worst execution I've seen in the industry. -
lol at being restricted and having that comment. If anything DICE will make more money. Hell how many "new" accounts have we seen from the latest sale. A cheater caught is a new GUID/game key that must be purchased.

http://www.pbbans.com/mbi-view-unofficial-ban-7278.html You raised a Violation (AIMBOT) #50643 with the same GUID back in August. You got lucky only because the server is light streaming meaning your ban is only propagated to those servers who choose to enforce the uMBi.

Commander mode for the nut jobs among us.
-
Huh, it's not limited to a tablet. The commander mode was set up on a PC at E3 too. The Big 30in monitor was the main commander pane, and they had the other monitors set up with squad views. Check out some of Daskro's interviews from his time there. The game looks amazing, and yet again there's nothing else in the market that can deliver anything close. People will play what they enjoy. And I already know I'm going to thoroughly enjoy BF4.
-
I'll agree there, but isn't that what the community has been asking for. BF gets flak for their buggy games, while COD gets flak for their small incremental updates to their ancient engine. If DICE takes a page out of the small incremental updates camp, maybe we'll see something near perfection come out of it. Can't hate on them for using a formula that works. I love BF3, and I love it more when I watch a video from COD.

Just to show how out of touch AMD is with gaming. Their "Gaming" benchmark is Sim City 3 :P

since they took MOH out of their release cycles, and I'm betting it will. [bC2,MOH] shared GUID, [bF3, MOHW] shared GUID, and [bF4, ?] I'm hoping they just use the same GUID. Would be amazing!

Are you asking why every time you set a password (you said pcw, I'm interpreting as password) on your server it stops streaming? To have a password on a BF3 server, you need it to be unranked. But you are probably also turning off PB. Make sure you're keeping PB on when you put a password on the server. If that's not what you're asking I have no idea what a pcw is?

Lite Streaming limitations - Player data from servers are not entered into the Master Player Index (MPi). - New bans are entered into the Unofficial MBi. There are also no ban announcements for any ban added to the Unofficial MBi. - No PBSS or Demo submissions. - Streaming Lite Admins have limited access to the Master Player Index (MPi). - Streaming Lite Admins do not have access to the same forum areas as Streaming Admins. http://www.pbbans.com/forums/pbbans-lite-streaming-now-available-t161764.html

Nonsense, I've actually disconnected my sata dvd drive. I needed the extra sata port for an additional HDD! I have many. I haven't used something from a disk in years. All the software I've bought in the past two years, games or otherwise have had a digital download option. Windows itself is easier installed from a flash drive, mainly because it's damn quick. I have few qualms with Origin, my download speeds are quicker from Origin servers than they are from Steam! I've said it here before and I'll say it again, I was pretty upset with Blizzard when Starcraft II didn't have a download option on release, and forced people to buy an actual dvd. An in game browser is one thing, but I would laugh at someone who handed me something on a dvd.

Also: pb_sv_homepath should tell you where to place your PB server files.

I don't think evenbalance even hosts the latest COD2 PB server files, just grab them from PBbans: http://www.pbbans.com/forums/files/cod-2-linux-file87.html

The spaghetti approach. Publish enough games and something is bound to stick?

A screenshot from Gametracker or PBScreens are both fine. Just make sure you submit the original unaltered image. You don't even have to download it anymore, PBBans allows you to supply the link to the image either from gametracker or PBScreens and they'll fetch it for you. Of course the server needs to have been streaming to PBBans, so that information can be crosschecked. The server IP should be on the PBSS, if it's a really old PBSS I'm not sure that they'll be logs anymore. Or how long PBBans keeps streamed logs from servers for that matter. But it wouldn't hurt to try.
