Hmmm, as far as I'm aware PBBans does not accept video evidence for BF3. TWL requires match servers to stream to PBBans though right? Not sure what the dispute process would be over there, but this may belong on the TWL forums, not here. Though if a PBBans admin really did point you to post it, then this is either changing or they just want it for discussion. Eitherway, you'll find out soon enough.

I guess I'm the opposite way. I can't stand boxed copies. Haven't bought a boxed copy game in ages, and was on a roll until Blizzard forced Boxed copies on the early sales of StarCraft II. Reading Physical media is slow, and ontop of that I then have to store the jewel cases somewhere, and just not needed in this day and age. My next build won't have a dvd drive. Everything worth a damn can be installed without the need for a disc. I look back on the 5 installation cd's of BF2 and cringe. Physical media is dead, or should be.

BF3 players that were banned really aren't banned!
Crotan replied to MarkUS's topic in General Discussions
I think the question is, how do you know he was banned in the first place? It appears that you just reported a player, nothing happened, and later he changed his origin name. Do origin bans show on their account? I've never gone to a Origin profile that has said, banned or anything? Is there something similar to how a steam account will show bans on record? -
Looks like clan tags are finally making it onto the battlefield and they are putting little letters on the flag markers on the minimap.

Now that's battlefield!

I don't know, they are kinda like that necessary evil for me these days. No other publisher even comes close to bring me what I want in a game, that's not to say EA crosses all their T's and dots all their I's. They regularly fall short of my expectations, but they have a lot of games under their belt that I largely enjoy. The Dead Space series is great, even with the wonky controls in the first one. Command and Conquer Generals, I'm very excited for too, along with the next Sim City. They have a lot of developers under their umbrella, that I want to succeed, and to just say, you know what I'm done with EA isn't realistic. When it comes down to it, THQ isn't even on the same playing field when it comes to FPS design,Treyarch's COD just isn't what I personally want in a FPS, despite being hugely successful. So what am I left with, the remnants of the BF franchise I love. They bring some of the things I love, and all I can do is be vocal in communities like this about the features that they need to bring back to the franchise. I still hugely enjoy BF3, but it could of been so much more.

wow and here I thought EA stock had gotten bad, while they recovered a little bit, any company that has had it's stock drop to $0.53 per share, doesn't sound to be doing too hot. Their foray back into the FPS sphere was kinda lackluster, Homefront was largely a flop, but I'm hoping they turn around with the genre that made them famous. The next Company of Heroes should be good. I still remember, Company of Heroes being at the forfront of games pushing DX10. Next year you're in a good spot if you're a RTS fan, Company of Heroes II by THQ and Command and Conquer: Generals II by EA. Both on some beautiful game engines. that's got to be a typo in the yahoo article, Think it should be $5.30 a share? If THQ stock really dropped to $0.53 back in Feb, i would of expected them to be defunct.

I'm wearing my tinfoil hat on this one. Don't usually take the spoon fed reasons for why a company does something and look for why they might do something and how it benefits them most. I don't think Valve makes much from indie games, and while this may help indie developers, I have to stop and think back to all that grief when Crysis 2 got removed from Steam. But yes I'd agree with you that EA would want everything on Origin, just like Valve would want everything on Steam.

In this day and age there are actually some pretty good free website hosting companies out there, and no I'm not talking about a gametracker page. But companies like enjin, will host a clan website complete with forums. Don't expect the bells and whistles but it's a damn good start for free. Not having a clan website, isn't an excuse for a group these days, you just gotta know what's out there. Having an active forum is another issue all together though. Hoping more groups jump on board!

me thinks they are trying to get EA games back, the reason EA dropped out of steam, is that they wanted to push updates independent of valve. Of course, their current system isn't fool proof either, there was a borked Metro 2033 update pushed through steam that broke the game, literally couldn't start it. So how much oversight does valve really do? and what's really changing here?

Seen a version of this for IT and managers or some such.

I always get worried by all these forums running old versions, especially since I help run a vbulletin forum myself, so every time there's a security patch, and I go look at some game developers board, it irks the shit out of me to see them running an old version.

Advertisement of PBBans in Games & Sponsorship
Crotan replied to Knives*'s topic in Comments & Suggestions
While a neat idea, there's multiple Anti cheat streaming communities out there PBBans GGC Airdale Ops Network Anti Cheat Inc Punksbusted (if they ever come back) And other similar organizations like Respected Admins and MetaBans. That's not to say PBBans shouldn't explore the possibility, just bringing up the challenges of such an undertaking. -
There was a time when we were very close to this. DICE had been taking pre-orders for the PC version of BF1943 before they canned it. But if I had an option, I'd vote for a true 2142 successor with Frostbite 2. Outside of the FPS genre, I'm pretty excited for Command & Conquer Generals 2. Which is using the Frostbite 2 engine

Crysis did the first two with their MP servers, but they had their own slue of problems. I don't know what's holding back developers in the sense of destruction and dynamic creation, some say it's the old in the tooth consoles that developers are mainly concerned with these days. If newly upgraded consoles ever come out, maybe we;ll see developers start pushing the envelope when it comes to destruction again? But I think it's a tricky thing to do, map design becomes a whole other beast, when all the trees and buildings on a map can be destroyed. When I played Left 4 dead 2, one of the things that bugged me the most was the fact that your teammates flashlights didn't light up anything, and it was only your flashlight that had any effect on the world. Valve was slacking. Crytek seemed to be leading the charge in all things multiplayer gaming with Crysis back in 2008, but I think all the issues they hit, left a bad taste in their mouth. Crysis 2 multiplayer was a huge back peddle. With that said, I think you're getting hung up on stats, we've had stats in all the multiplayer BF games, and we had the features that made past BF games great while also having stats. It's not that they are focusing on stats, it's just that they aren't putting in the features that made past games great.

This looks to be a great addition, and with 7000+ unofficial bans already, seems a great success. Hopes this brings even more teams to PBBans! Do you guys have a breakdown of how many teams make up lite streaming vs full?

Say what? Not see much of a savings, my ass. I don't remember the last time I paid sales tax and the frequency of deals from both Origin and Steam are practically spam at this point. I'd give the author some credit for this tidbit misleading article is misleading

I have to say, Battlelog has done a good job in respect to me, I hardly use steam these days. Mostly because valve really doesn't have any titles that hold me to their system. I play Shogun 2 total war, but that's single player so I don't really use steam. Having the mod workshop integrated in Steam was a great step for Skyrim though. Valve needs to release a new title that makes great use of everything steam has to offer, but that won't happen until the next left 4 dead or counterstrike re-explodes. I'm not really into MMO's these days, so seeing another MMO fail is kinda the norm these days. Someone launches a MMO, it goes big, then trickles off and eventually gets re-bundled into a free to play version. Development of the battlelog system is slower than I expected and I wish they would expand it's features quicker, they'll be wishing they did come the next Valve release. Third party plugins like Better Battlelog are a good start, but they need more clan and group enhancements. I've been waiting for that matches integration since it showed up, nobody has talked about it since the button appeared? I don't have any stock in EA, but as a gamer, and fan of the BF series, and someone looking forward to Sim City, I have hope for the company and some of the things they try to accomplish.
-
Just bring me the new Sim City already, that's all I care about at this point
-
Damned if they do damned if they don't. For every person that hated them for giving it away for free there was someone else that loved them for doing the same
-
what are you yapping about? How many people bought BF2, then BF2: Special Forces, then BF Euro Force, then BF Armored Fury. If the content is up to snuff, I say keep it coming. I don't expect to work for free, and I don't expect DICE to either
-
I'd agree here, but just remember that took how long. I wouldn't expect these being free anytime soon, however a nice discount. That's something we'll probably see

Several things You should bring your concern to the server admins who run that server, best you can hope for is for them to issue a local ban and or view any PBSS. They are Bullet Hole Revolution, http://www.bhrclan.com While you're at it, you should let them know PB is out of date on their server. They are running: Server 1.841; Latest is: v1.850 PBBans doesn't flag suspected cheaters
-
Once PBBans has sent out unban commands, it up to the local server admins to have the "Allow UnBan flag" ticked or manually remove Bans from their banlist. Such as this case. You need to work with the admins of that server, if you're still banned there. It sounds like the server doesn't have the "Allow UnBan flag" ticked, which means even though you were unbanned here, the server admin will have to manually remove you from their banlist. PBBans can't help you. It is essentially a local ban, and in the hands of any server admins.
