I don't think anyone is in a really good position right now, hell SEGA is probably in the worst spot. Massive layoffs and slashing titles. And I don't even think THQ is taken seriously anymore. The game developer and publisher sphere isn't the behemoth it use to be. Seeing those kickstarter developers pull in a cool million must hurt too. Either way, the BF franchise is my FPS of choice, and I hope DICE doesn't go anywhere anytime soon.

There are several groups registered here with that name. Two of which seem like duplicates :P |1st Marine Division| - |1st MD| - Team is InActive - www.1stmd.net 1st Marine Division - 1st MD - Team is InActive - www.1stmd.net 2/1E 1st Marine Division - 2/1E - Team is InActive - http://www.1stmarinediv.net/ If you're part of www.1stmd.net, the users registered to the clans are Evers (117099) and for the duplicate group: Jones21 (123641) or if you're part of http://www.1stmarinediv.net/ , get in contact with AlarmTerry (131899)

I don't think the fact that they were all banned on the same day is anything to be concerned about. What PB can detect now is not what PB could detect a month ago, whenever those definitions were updated is when it caught all the players using the hack scott free before the 8th. You'll see this all the time if you're in a PBBans streaming server with announce bans on, and a truckload of bans for the same violation come through. As for the hack number, you should look at http://www.pbbans.com/info-center-pbviols.html I think you're jumping to a lot of conclusions to questions only EvenBalance knows. Unless they come back and say oops it was a false positive, which does happen. I'd treat it as a legitimate ban

Was the worst news I've ever read. Was really hoping for Valve to knock some sense into other developers and get an amazing cross platform game out the door.

My Server Stopped Streaming
Crotan replied to LaserSights's topic in Streaming Questions and Troubleshooting
haha alright I'm passing out I'm hoping the rest of the 1000+ server admins can use the search function. Make sure you have all the additional ucon profiles in your pbsv.cfg http://www.pbbans.com/forums/additional-ucon-profiles-t150048.html -
I don't know how accurate that is, even when you buy a game from Gamestop or Amazon, chances are you'll end up playing and/or installing it on Steam or Origin these days. Places like Steam/Origin/ and the former Direct2Drive are more than just Digital Distribution systems, they are complete gaming platforms

Ehhh, I use to use PlayClaw, but then I realized built into MSI-Afterburner there is a video recording application. you can show all the usual info on screen plus record any length any size. No more watermarked or limited stuff from using free versions of playclaw or Fraps If you already overclock, might as well use the utility built into your software.

This game looks so similar to that Blacklight: Tango Down game that came out in 2010?

you can change your Origin name so a battlelog name may no longer exist in the battlelog sense, but the same account is still floating around with a new name.

So one of my servers stopped streaming recently so I reran the automated hub tool and all that jazz but than I started looking at the difference between the BF3 pbsv.cfg file that is listed for BF3 in the MCi and the one that gets created from the Automated Hub tool for BF3 and was wondering which is recommended since they both vary quite a bit. For instance, The pbsv.cfg that the automated hub tool generates doesn't include the keep alive pb_sv_task 0 7200 pb_sv_ver // Keep-Alive for PBBans Hub (Do not remove. Will cause servers to appear as inactive when empty for long periods of time) pb_sv_task 0 86400 pb_sv_update // Check for PB updates daily (More dependable than UCON system) But the Hub generated cfg also has some lines that the MCi pbsv.cfg doesn't have such as pb_sv_uconadd 1 "208.122.49.139" "pbbhub1-2" "pbbanshub" pb_sv_uconadd 1 "208.122.49.140" "pbbhub1-3" "pbbanshub" A few differences between them: MCi pbsv.cfg has pb_sv_usessionlimit 10 Hub pbsv.cfg has pb_sv_usessionlimit 8 MCi pbsv.cfg has pb_sv_MaxSendRate 8 Hub pbsv.cfg has pb_sv_uconmaxsendrate 16 ^^^ Are these the same things? Each doesn't include the other. I could care less about things like the Protected tags not being included in both, but some of the deviations in settings and absence of others all together has me curious. Also is there any negative impact on the server for having all the cvar scan settings put in the pbsv.cfg from the Hub: pb_sv_CvarFreq 6 //[# of range checks per minute] pb_sv_CvarLogging 1 //[1=Reg. Log, 2=Var Log, 3=Both, 0=Neither] pb_sv_CvarWalk 1 //[0=disabled, 1-4=Walk through obtained Cvar lists] pb_sv_CvarUserPulse 99 //[Frequency to auto-send CvarUser (minutes)] pb_sv_CvarChangedPulse 99 Whereas the MCi, generated files won't include those for BF games since there are no cvar scans. I guess my question is shouldn't the cvar lines not be generated for BF games? Hopefully the above is easy to follow, Happy New Years! Thanks, Crotan

If that's all you have to say after watching that video, I feel sorry for you. It really is a pity you can't enjoy how far this franchise has come, because you have to unlock weapons. Pretty spot on for the Singleplayer campaign, was the most scripted single player I've ever played. Think DICE spent all their time getting Glenn Morshower's balding head just right, and none on actually creating a campaign worth playing. Though I'm pretty happy about the multiplayer.

I want to set up streaming
Crotan replied to Shrink223's topic in Streaming Questions and Troubleshooting
Joining PBBans as a Streaming Game Admin can be achieved in 3 easy steps: Create a forums account. (If you have one goto step 2) Setup your servers to stream using the PBBans Hub Guide. Signup for a Team Account. Verify your account has been setup by visiting the Forums. -
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oRhw9MHJZeo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oRhw9MHJZeo&hd=1 for Maydax or whoever is kind enough to embed for me While not the same jets, the A10's seem to be doing fine with their basic "Mighty Pea Shooters" and none of that fancy heat seaking mischief you want the jets to come with from the get go. We're going to have to agree to disagree here, but my opinion is that the BF3 unlock progression system is fine as is, with the starting levels of vehicles and kits alike. Eventually you'll be able to unlock heatseakers and guided missiles for them too, and when that happens instead of everyone crying about how long it took for them to get there it'll be crying about how much they are used. There are much bigger fish to fry in the battlefield world than the time you'll have to put in to unlock something. Like proper PB integration! and proper server administration tools.

When they opened up Caspian Border to everyone this past weekend, to those that weren't sharing a password or using the chrome exploit, Everyone had the missiles and flares by the end. If people are unlocking these things in the period of a weekend, it's not the disaster these last few posts make it out to be. People earn them and then continue enjoying the game. Holding off on instant gratification isn't always a bad thing.

you guys may have a point but on the opposite side of the spectrum, you guys are looking at it from the short term. If your attention span isn't long enough to stick with a game after 3 months, maybe you should play something else BF2142 lasted how many years, and people still didn't have all the unlocks, same with BF2. If they make it too easy to get the unlocks quickly it kills the game in the long run. The same people that complain about this progressive unlock system are the people that complain about the gaming industry releasing the same old year on end. I don't want a game to last 6 months, I want a game that lasts 6 years. All this early whining will simmer down when everyone has everything unlocked eventually down the road. Until then, man up and understand the nature of the game.

All the bugs and glitches aside, Caspian border is an amazing map. Looking into the sky and seeing little shimmers of jets dog fighting it up and looking across a map with real terrain, and dynamic light is pretty stunning. I'm pretty pleased with the strides they've made from BF2, is there room for improvement, absolutely, but I'm enjoying it. Coming into the forest flag, and thinking I was at the wrong spot, because the forest had been completed leveled and the area was much brighter than I remember really strikes you. Wow this completely changed in the course of a game, is something more games should work on. Dynamic landscapes, be it urban or rolling hills is something I hope to see perfected. As for buying a dedicated server and getting stuck with additional fees for BF3, do all game server providers do that? Because if not you have your answer right there.

Hmmm, Isn't this vehicle unlock system different than the way BC2 did it. Right now I have the tank optics, smoke and coax mg, all at once. You just have to unlock them. How it's implemented on the tank, in the beta, is how I like it.

Sadly you have to be a current client of theirs to use that code, so good on them for giving a little extra back to their current customers. But no good for any new clients
-
yikes, I guess we need to know the hardware specs between the servers? Otherwise I can't see smaller GSPs surviving this launch if they overload shared servers.

i like how almost everything on http://myinternetservices.com returns

hmmm, I wonder if this is similar to Left 4 Dead 2, where we originally had to type into console "openserverbrowser" after first enabling developer console of course. Sounds like it will be a feature added in after the fact hopefully.
-
I wonder if we'll see this on the PC, because they dropped BC2's onslaught Co-Op mode for the PC
