  1. i updated his proflile for him now in convicted cheater group
  2. no matter what they have to offer, our integrity is paramount so nothing is asked of or given to convicted cheaters :)
  3. we have had an instance in the past were a streaming admin was asking if it would be ok to test a cheat on his server so he could train other admins in what to look for ... after we strongly advised him against this he went ahead and tested .. problem was he forgot to disable streaming and ended up on the mbi harsh lesson but unfortunately we operate a zero tolerance policy and as anyone who has been around here for any length of time knows, we value our integrity above all else anyone who claims to be testing a hack for evenbalance on a public is a liar :D
  4. looks like your ban derives from the psb banlist .. go join their forums and try it on there i hope your ban has been upped by evenbalance to a global one because that means you will not be able to play any pb enabled server which imo should be the fate of anyone caught hacking
  5. just a quickie to say welcome to PBBANS RTCW section ... if you have a point of view, info to share or just a question to ask re RTCW then this is the place :)
  6. Dyno .. let me make this quite clear m8 .. coz maybe it does not shine through ..we dont share anything with convicted cheaters ... and psb have quite a few on their books .. evenbalance make it impossible to stream to both psb and pbbans .. so its up to you who you stream with ... our banlist is there to be used by any concientious admin, safe in the knowledge that every ban is backed up by 100% irefutable proof, our forums are as clean as we can make them (why should hackers have a say) and last but not least the staff and members here possess integrity and no cheat convictions :P
  7. last time i checked the european scene ..rtcw was running 193 servers ..and 7 of them running sandmod .. hardly hundreds of servers :P btw most of them are empty ..only the good ones survive and player counts are dwindling all the time you know i despair sometimes when i read statements like that
  8. maybe a quick way of answering you would be to state why i chose pbbans over psb :) to start with i used to check psb out on a regular basis just to keep up to speed with how the anti-cheat movement was moving along and i must say i was impressed with the way things were progressing .. at that time Jolt suits expressly forbade any log sharing with outside sites ... then i noticed a few familiar names cropping up and did a few checks .. yep, convicted cheaters who were on Jolt banlist's were also psb members .. this effectively killed any desire i had to share anything i could bring to the table re anti-cheat :( after an initial invite from an old pbbans staff member to join pbbans and share logs, i explained the Jolt stance re log and banlist sharing but joined the pbbans forum anyways, i just idled in the background on irc and forums .. the first thing that struck me was that anyone with a cheat conviction was not allowed to actively participate in anything pbbans related .. the second thing was that all bans had to be accompanied by the original log entries so no one could falsify bans .. after a while i made a concerted effort on the Jolt suits to change their no sharing stance and after a week was given the green light .. i have seen clanbase admins get kicked out of pbbans for falsifying logs .. i have seen an active staff member get caught double teaming for the hacking community and thrown out .. there are others as well .. they all went over with no problem to psb and some are pretty high up in their hierarchy .. i guess at the end of the day i could sum up pbbans in one word .. INTEGRITY .. pbbans had it at the outset and it is still a core faction of what we are about :D if you now have a server .. you can update your forum profile and inform a staff member, this in turn will give you more forum access .. a game admin has more access than a member .. a streaming admin has more access than a game admin and you will be able see the forum post for setting up streaming and be able to see and use what pbbans has to offer so to sum up .. if you got a server and you got integrity .. hop aboard, your more than welcome :D
  9. but Dyno's statements are perfectly valid and true :D
  10. Nosferatµ wtf has all this to do with a privately run anti cheat site ?? hardware bans are dealt exclusively by evenbalance and creating lots of bogus accounts on this forum will not get you unbanned ... all it does is give us all an insight into what you personally come across as
  11. hmmmm .. i wonder if i can revive an old topic :P voice is not a given re irc ... in most channels there are channel @'s, and voiced peeps are those that are regular trusted idlers .. the rest get nothing :) the reason is that if an @ wishes to moderate a channel only @ and voiced peeps can actually send to the channel we started giving auto voice to anyone who joins our irc channel purely as a "welcome to pbbans feel free to chat" type of message .. its a courtesy that has not been abused yet so will continue for the forseeable future
  12. the ET Guid Auth Master is run by ID and not pb so any downtime is completely out of EB hands
  13. that tells me that the "punkbuster" this mod used would be unofficial and therefore logs inadmissable as evidence for a cheat violation we work hand in glove with evenbalance staff and their software, i see criticism's of punkbuster all the time in one shape or another but the fact remains, its the best anti cheat software that is available to any game on the market and if a game i like the look of has a multiplayer side and no punkbuster then i leave it on the shelf ..thats how important punkbuster is to me rtcw was released with pb included from day one, the patches released for it fixed a hell of a lot of bugs of one shape or another ... its the players choice wether they upgrade to 1.41 all patches are available for free .. its also the players choice wether to enable pb ... whats the problem with updating and running your s4ndmod with pb preferably enabled ... i have looked the s4ndmod over and compared to shrub/osp and bani i cant see anything going for it tbh .... the one thing it has going for it at the moment is a captive audience still playing the first release of wolf :) that has any kind of support ... now the question comes up of why players choose to stay unpatched .. i stated before that i have experience of running older version servers that i had rcon to but no ftp access, when we managed to get the players on to irc or on a forum all they needed was talking through the patching process .. most of them had no idea what "server uses protocol" errors were about so just stayed unpatched and played different servers .. a hefty chunk were also on GamesDomain banlists for hack violations of one type or another .. of course there will always be exceptions to the rule, i.e players who say they like the earlier versions better, but speaking from a pbbans perspective any input they give to us is totally useless unless supported by pb sv_cheatlogs .. and as a last little thought, it has been stated earlier that i "look down" on the banning system of s4ndmod .. well i have to hold my hands up and say thats perfectly true, you say that you ban an IP range to sort out dynamic IP cheaters but dont mention filtering before banning the range, any admin that bans 65,000 ip's to get rid of one cheater is a poor one, a little detective work can limit the damage so to speak :) here is a section of a hlsw tutorial i wrote that explains banning a dynamic IP using the old Q3 rcon method; If the bad guys IP is static then there is no problem , first thing to check is if the filterban variable is on or off; /rcon seta g_filterban 0/1 (0 = IP banning is off 1 = IP banning is on) next we add the llama's IP /rcon addIP 312.27.48.132 (pb_sv_banmask 312.27.48.132 has the same effect) job done if his IP is dynamic you need to do a little more work .. first stage is to collect some IP addresses he connects with .. it will look something like this; 312.27.48.120 312.27.48.38 312.27.32.12 312.27.32.89 312.27.48.10 312.27.48.91 312.27.32.140 notice that the common numbers are 312.27.48 and 312.27.32 ... what we do now is ban all IP's within that range like this /rcon addIP 312.27.48 /rcon addIP 312.27.32 this will filter all IP's in the range of 312.27.48.0 through 312.27.48.255 and 312.27.32.0 through 312.27.32.255 this effectively bans your lamer without banning a whole IP range that affects a lot of innocent people if we just ban the whole IP range /rcon addIP 312.27 this bans all IP's from 312.27.48.0 through 312.27.255.255 ( we get 65,000 people by multiplying 255x255)
  14. just that sentence alone is worth an account deletion imo

    Hello

s4ndman .. i deleted your account and regretted it later ... a mod for rtcw without punkbuster support is totally useless for pbbans and what we are trying to achieve ..if you have any rtcw queries you can mail me at this address [email protected] the same go's for Gump ... any queries can be directed directly to me. just to reiterate ..PBBANS requires PunkBuster to be installed and running .. when you achieve this hop aboard banning by Ip range just bans a whole lot of innocent folks as well as the cheater, if your happy with this arrangement then feel free to continue by the way you might take a minute to read this, it concerns players with multiple cheat offences/pb hacks/ warez guid's etc Wednesday June 30th, 2004 The cost of hacking on PunkBuster servers has just gone up significantly. PunkBuster now computes Hardware GUIDs for various pieces of hardware on players' systems while playing on PunkBuster servers. We use multiple private one-way hashes so that no serial number information for individual computers can be determined by admins or anyone else who may try to obtain this information from a Hardware GUID (and as always, no personal information of any kind is examined, stored or transmitted by PunkBuster). When players raise a violation that corresponds to hacking or interfering with PunkBuster's normal operation, we now (in addition to Global PB GUID bans) are Globally banning the new Hardware GUIDs across all games supported by PunkBuster (including games supported in the future). So punks who are determined to cheat so badly on PB-enabled servers that they try to hack PunkBuster may now need a new computer in addition to a new cdkey in order to return to PunkBuster servers. As with previous PB GUID Global bans, the new Hardware GUID bans are permanent and will not be lifted. As always, players who are affected by these Global bans will still be able to play on non-PB servers. Honest users should never "test" hacks that claim to interfere with PunkBuster. We have successfully tested this new feature set over the past few weeks for a few supported games and will be rolling it out to all supported games over the next few days and weeks. Additionally, PunkBuster servers will be updated to signify whether kicks for Global bans are for PB GUIDs or the new Hardware GUIDs.
  16. what mindgame says is true and also; directly from the etpub guys Everyone using 0.5.1 or 0.5.2 should update if you use shrubbot. The !showbans command can crash the server. :) be careful out there :P
  17. its an old thing that used to happen lots on the mohaa servers i used to admin years ago :D .. soon stopped when permanent local bans were applied .. try contacting the server admin with any info that you have at least then he knows who to look out for
  18. an aimbot is one of the easiest things to spot while in spec mode ..especially if the person your speccing is faced by multiple enemies .. gun muzzle jerk is a dead giveaway ... there is not a lot of hack activity on the rtcw scene that is not already detected by pb and in all the time i have been an admin i have caught about 3 or 4 via pbss .. the rest have had a pb violation raised i disagree with rh@psody .. the cvars you restrict with your pbsv.cfg can make a difference, all of them force players to play within a preset range that creates a level playing field for all .. for example over at Jolt we have just added a cvar check pb_sv_cvar cg_nopredict in 0 0 .. if a player is allowed to set this to 1 in his cfg it creates the effect of minor lag and makes him harder to hit thus creating an unfair advantage for that particular player ... thats what pbcvars are there for :)
  19. I keep getting kicked by PunkBuster for "Blocked O/S Privileges"? Please temporarily disable other security type programs you have running such as anti-virus, process guard, SDProtector, etc. to find out which of them is blocking PB's access to resources on your computer. You either need to run PB without the blocking program(s) or play on non-PB servers. Also make sure you run the game under an Administrator or equivalent account under Windows. If you do have access an admin account, you can right click on the application you want to run and select "Run As". This will allow you to give admin access to that program and should allow you to play with a limited user. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I keep getting kicked by PunkBuster for "Insufficient O/S Privileges"? Download and run this file from any location, it will check for adware that stops you from being able to play on PB servers. The VX2 adware edits your user rights when it infects your computer, and many programs do not repair this when they remove it. http://www.greyknight17.com/spy/VX2Finder(126).exe Click the "Find VX2.betterinternet info" button to make sure that you don't have this adware. If there are no files listed, go on to the last step. If you find the adware files, (it is usually 3 random named dll files) Select all the files found. Press 'Delete These Files'. The program will delete all files but one that will be deleted on reboot. Allow program to reboot. Once Restarted: Press 'Guardian.reg'. Press 'User Agent'. Press 'Restore Policy'. Clicking on "find vx2.BetterInternet info" again should show all fields blank. If you have no adware files, just click on the "Restore Policy" Button
  20. ancient news tbh Thursday 01.13.2005 [4:45PM] We have confirmed that the recently released update for the Xfire (www.xfire.com) instant messaging program has triggered PB Violations #90003 and #90011 when the chat overlay system is used while playing on a PunkBuster enabled server in OpenGL mode. Today, Xfire released a v1.31 update to correct the problem on their end. We encourage PB admins to give the benefit of the doubt to players who received either of these violations since Dec. 30th. As these are generic cheat hook detection algorithms, we will not be removing them from our system. Players who use Xfire while playing on PB Servers should update to the new version immediately.
  21. you s4ndmod is a noob version of shrub and what has been posted before still applies ...without punkbuster your input here is totally useless try contacting someone from this site; http://www.planetwolfenstein.com/shrub/ maybe they will spot the rip off of their mod :P

    Hello

like i said ..stone age stuff re bans S4ndmod is a pretty primitive shrub and the banning process used is the bog standard ip banning system that came along with the very first quake games absolutely useless for anything pbbans related,in fact, absolutely useless for anything except to keep a bunch of retro gamers happy with their hacker free delusions it seems roflmao enjoy ...oh, and happy pursuing
  23. fozzer

    Hello

lmao how do you ban ? most ip's these days are dynamic and if i used a hack on any 1.0 server and got banned i could be back on the same server within 5 minutes of any ban being sent my way with a new name, new ip, and same hack, if i wanted to that is :P all those man hours spent trawling through demo's and logging ip adresses rofl ... make it all a lot easier and join the "new age" revolution ..drop the clubs and learn the art of nuclear weaponry punkbuster style :D

    Hello

personally i dont understand players that stick in the past on vers 1.0 .. updates released fixed many bugs that were prevalent in the first versions of rtcw ... the main drawback is that cheaters who are banned from the current version of rtcw actively look around for servers with no pb enabled ..when they die off or upgrade then they revert to earlier versions that have no pb support .. no one owns an "old copy" of the game ... a valid cd key plus the relevant patches make your "old" into new, in minutes, just like magic ... the last person i talked to who played vers 1.0 did so because he said that being a 56 k'er meant that downloading patches was a no no :) .. maybe he did not know too much about irc but i was able to get his ip in seconds and found he was a convicted cheater on an adsl line lmao i used to admin a lot of rtcw servers for GamesDomain ..they were rented off Barrysworld by British Telecom so we had no direct control over what we could do with them, 4 of those servers were earlier versions of rtcw that we could not get updated (barrysworld staff were lazy gits and they knew BT were pulling the plug) i lost count of the amount of people i had to talk through patching their game to the current version, which at the time was 1.3 the easy answer to the "bringing cheaters to justice" is to upgrade to 1.4,enable PB and use the pb tools at your disposal coupled with the pbbans banlist :P a quick question for you ... how do you decide if someone is hacking with no pb or pbss facility etc on your servers as far as i'm aware, streaming requires your sv_cheatlog to be streamed directly to an evenbalance repository .. in your case no PB = no sv_cheatlog, so not a lot to be done there then What can we do to help this? and can our clan and server be of any use to the PB Bans family. .. pardon me for sounding rude but your input would be as much use as a cardboard leg in torrential rain .. its tantamount to cavemen asking for a machine gun and forgetting to order the bullets :D
