  1. That's a habit you should break, then. Might also want to post which operating system you're on. If on Vista, try right-click on icon and run as administrator, rather than just double-click on icon. Had to run ET that way for the first few tries, as well as COD4. After a while, the OS "learns" and it's not needed.
  2. This happens to me once in a while, if I haven't rebooted my pc in a few days. Windows-issue as a possible relation to it, as memory tends to "fill up" over time in Windows operating systems. Next time it happens, exit the game, hit ctrl+alt+del once, and check where your system resources are at. If your memory is over 50-60% used, likely a reboot will solve it. May depend on operating system, as well. I run Vista 64x Ultimate, SP1, all drivers etc updated, and only run into this after 4-5 days without a reboot.
  3. Found over on Treyarch's forums. Apparently this is working for some of those who have the black screen/crash at game-startup. Reason why is cause you dont have the bink player which you will need to play .bik files download it hear http://www.radgametools.com/down/Bink/RADTools.exe Source
  4. Need to rent a server, or co-locate your dedicated server at a known GSP's DC, in order to pass that particular part of the requirements here. There are numerous reasons for this, but perhaps the number one reason is that any player connecting to it will show as using the server's IP address, rather than their own, due to how home networks work. The server's IP then shows up in the MPI, and if a cheater is caught on the server, the MBI as well.
  5. WaW doesn't use profiles the same way, and as yet, have not found a way to do it.
  6. Best suggestion, and I'll borrow this from #punkbuster, and h3ndr1k, is to grab a digital camera, and take a picture of the bsod, then open a trouble ticket with evenbalance, attach the shot, and include as much information about your computer, drivers versions, and game as you can.
  7. Join your server, with pb enabled, open the console, and type in /pb_myguid and it will give it to you. You'll need the console opened in fullscreen mode to see it.
  8. Yes, I meant that the cod4 command does not work on a cod5 server, to clarify. It is disabled on my cod4 server. :)
  9. My take, so far, with this game, and btw, take this with a grain of salt. My server jams up at end of map 4, regardless of which map. It isn't happenning to all servers, and I've tried different recommended configs. Mine is patched up to 1.1 My game is patched up to 1.1 My roomie couldn't get it to run on XP, at all, and it eventually put him in a position of trying different fixes, to the point where his Windows install crashed and he had to format to get back into it, recovery-console didn't take. Borked gamed, not likely to support it much longer, personally. If Treyarch can't release a game for the PC without using a cheap port-over from console, which is apparently all they know how to do, then I won't be playing the odd-numbered releases of this game, anymore. A well-wasted 62 bucks Canadian to learn this, I suppose, but worth knowing that Treyarch can't design a COD-series game worthy of the name. I'll put up with a release worth playing every two years, instead. The command to turn off the kill-cam in COD4 does not work, btw, and not sure what the answer is, there, as yet. :( Treyarch, the next EA-crap-dev, imo.
  10. Mine is streaming, as of now. Gameservers, as of 0412 have re-openned ftp access. Only thing that will happen to stop it now is that I am changing ports to 28930 instead of default, so I will have to re-activate it come the time I wake up in the am. That will happen before I get a chance to buy the retail version, fyi. Got mine waiting, paid for it last week. :)
  11. The cracked server issue has been in the ToS since day-1. Second, the check has been listed in the SGA section for some-time, as well. Granted, not all would check regularly, I guess. We're now giving you a grace-period, to fix the issue. Servers are now checked automatically.
  12. Welcome here! :) Hope you enjoy the ride, your stewardess will be along shortly, with refreshments..... ;)
  13. This thread still going? I tried to forgetaboutit two weeks ago..... ;) Move on, nothing to see here!
  14. Try turning it off and see.
  15. I use Avast, and run Vista 64x with no issues, have also used Avast with XP Home, no issues there either. Odd question, but do you have pb enabled in the game?
  16. :dunno: :banghead: :BigB: Glad to see EA's quality support never falters......
  17. Any leftover configs from dual-streaming that you may have missed? Possibly use the webtool on the homepage and see if it will re-initiate your streaming.
  18. re-name your pb folder in the game's install pb_old and then create a new folder called pb, download the latest version of pbsetup.exe to it directly, and run it, allowing it to create new pb-files, without old ones in-place, then try the game, and post your results, and this needs to be done from your administrator account, as well.
  19. Are you on a wire-less connection?
  20. Cracked guid's are actually shared key's, thus keeping several cheaters off our servers at the same time, rather than just one cheater. ;)
  21. What is the exact kick-message you get when trying to run the game?
  22. If the shoe fits..... Looks like fozzer's size 12's worked rather well. ;)
  23. You do not get a new GUID by installing a game on a different computer, it's related to your cd-key only. Perhaps include that information, when talking with evenbalance on this issue. As stated above, though, this key appears to have been stolen, as it's used by multiple users in several different locations. Personal recommendation would be to buy a new copy of the game in a sealed package from a legitimate source, rather than a used game from e-bay.
  24. Who's your host? If you're an sga, you obviously have some sort of ftp-access if this is your own server for your clan, or you might also need to ask your head sga for access, if he/she is willing to permit it. Not sure if you're clan-owner, as I didn't search that far into your profile.
