Any idea why this feature fails 25-30% of the time I try to click it? get the following: Sorry, an error occurred. Why is it necessary to run a clan/ site to participate?
buttscratcher replied to hissister's topic in General Discussions
Just dont use GameServers.com with that in mind. They offer zero support in their "free" website offer. LPGS does offer excelent "ongoing" support to that end. They set ours up, and were quick to hop into the admin interface to help stomp out the fires I started... But Live started the last fire we had, lol :P But yeah, a clan website is an ez deal. I'd suggest staying away from a site like clantoolz, or anything simular. Waste of money, and you do not get access to the files you need in the event you choose to go a different direction. Butt -

I'd rather pay $60 for a game that at least gives the end user new options, rather than another $60 for a the same featureless game I got last Winter. Personally, I am looking forward to getting back into clan v clan scrims, and potentially ladder play. Is VAC going to be an adjustment? Yeah, you bet! But, if you belive what you read, its pretty clear what direction things are headed in. I can respect your feelings, but to me there are larger issues one could dig their heels in over. We all had to learn our present anti-cheat system. None of us new about all the EB nuances untill we jumped into the world of renting servers and building clans. But we muddeled our way through, and had alot of fun in the process. I am looking at COD-BO/VAC in a simular light. Its a new fps series to me. A new chance to meet different people. A new learning experience all together (which I love). I'll take a positive attitude and an open mind going into this game. Any negitivity I may have had in the past, I'll write off as disapointment in EA. That said, I wont let one negitive experience/game allow me to forget why I do this. Its for fun! Having a good time w/ my friends and meeting new people. Sometimes for me, its too easy to get caught up in the negitive, and forget about the positive.:P Butt

Start it @ 58:00 - 62:00 It goes on about cheats and VAC past there. When your not as "busy", do listen to it. Its quite informative for the PC gamer. Times are a changing, and these guys lay it out in ways thats ez to follow. 65:00 - 68:30

Intresting interview about cod bo. maydax and pbbans get a little love about half way through. http://bashandslash.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=1074&Itemid=69

^ naaa, I am done with that one. thx though.

Not sure if its on my end, but when on the order page, the only ranked choice is 18 slots. "One provider, one choice?" For unranked, I can pick from 10-24 slots. I guess thats why its more expensive to order an unranked server. Customer pays more for the "opportunity" to pick their slot count? nice...

In light that its been confirmed that there is only one "exclusive" - GSP for COD-BO, the first part is irrelevant. As to the second part,(in veiw of the first part) No, your right. I did not. :D

lol. wrong thread :P . Activision bashing goes here http://www.pbbans.com/forums/call-of-duty-black-ops-t125263.html This is about LPGS pre-orders.

Well. "Open mouth, insert foot" might work here. Guess there was one other thing hiding in the weeds that could turn me off on this one. Heres what I am confused about. *There is an improved server browser on the pc for codblackops *Matchmaking on the pc is just letting the game pick a server in codblackops ^ (seems like contradictory points to me) If its a matchmaking system, then I dont see a reason in renting a server. My understanding of matchmaking is that you cant control what server your sent to, when logging into game? If that is correct, there is no motivation for an organized group/clan to rent. The funny thing is, it looks like there will be some sort of r-con admin tools and spectate mode... But if they are not your people (members & pubbers) on "your server" whats the point in admining the server? lol! Can someone clear this up? The matchmaking side of things. Guess the one positive side of all this is its not due out till November... We've got plenty of time to get a better idea whats going on w/ the MP.

Guess I should sign up for lessons at the local ju/co...Be careful of what you wish for? :o I guess the news is still fresh, and needs some sorting, but looks like there may have been a monkey wrench thrown into the works with last nights MP "event". Was kind of confused with the early report that GameServers.com would be the only GSP allowed to host the game. Did you hear anything from Activision reguarding LPGS hosting? Pretty confusing stuff.
-
C'mon guys. :) Lets not worry to much about that. Just a blurb from a magazine. The meat and potatoes are due out in a little while. Gimme my admin tools, and a battle recorder, and I'll be a happy camper.

Cool. Thx for clearing that up. The main thing I am waiting for on Sept. 1st, is to get a better picture of the demo-recorder on the game. I dont think it will be like the 2142 BR in 3rd person, as I think the cod4 guys say their BR is 1st person. But either way, I sure hope the game has one... Its my only "deal breaker" with this release. With the EB non-functioning pb_ss, and no demo in BC2, I can't sell my guys on another featureless dud. If theres no demo recorder, I'll probably close up shop and take up nitting. Guess we will all find out on Wednesday
-
One more question: As it was shown in the preview video, there seems to be an ingame recorder of some nature. If there is a demo record feature, how are you guys going to handle that, as it relates to this package? Is demo access going to be part of the package? With other games/providers, they generally set us up with a publicly accessable URL for us to go to (simular to some providers pb_ss access) , and we access the individual demos from there. Then we would delete the demos nightly from an FTP client, as to not have a ton of old demo files piling up. Seeing that BC2 does not have demo ability, I thought it prudent to ask about your policy on a feature it looks like this game *knocks on wood* will support. Butt

Funny stuff. That photo would make for great trivia question in the comedy thread, that most of the younger people would get wrong. Start it: "What is the guy in the photo doing?" Some of the answers would be pretty funny though.

Cool. Thanks for the information. Is the slot price after the sale, going to be what were paying for our BC2 server now? I'll definetly run the deal past the guys, but everyone in our group is pretty gunshy after the EA letdown. So far the early buzz is really good for this one, and as long as there is a demo recorder, I am probably in. I may have to wait till after the 1st though. Want to see what the full MP release info has to tell us. lol @ the paypal deal... yeah we had a problem with that after the first full month. Got to turn off the subscription setting. Never seen that one before :P
-
Your BC2 server & service has good, so was planning on ordering CODBO from you anyway. But, I've never done a server pre-order, so I have a few questions. 1 ) Are pre-orders pre-paid, or is payment due, say a week or so, before when the servers go live? 2 ) What is the refund policy? This special runs through Aug 31st. But the public release of MP information isn't going to be released till Sept 1. Would be nice to have the offer extended past the 1st, so we have a better idea of what we are ordering. Lets say that they pull another DICE/BC2, and its obvious they have released another unfinished title, to meet an unrealistic deadline, or "promised features" get cut from the final product... I'd hate to be married to something that I could not get out of, should the manafacture lay another egg. 3 ) Is the slot price good "for the life of the server"? Say someone gets a 32 slot server on release (or whatever the slot limit is) but after a few months they increase the slot limit. Can we add additional slots without penalty?

Just like the snipers in BC2, anything that keeps the idiots busy and off the flags, is fine by me.

I know your position, I've read it enough by now, lol. Going to start mistaking you for misnomer, jk. Was asking if there had been any "official" news on included core features? Number of maps? "Stuff that matters" Not intrested in fancy "advo videos". I got caught up in the "hype" for BC2. Wont get fooled again though. I want to know what the game will have. Not intrested in "non-functional eye candy"
