afaik fx_sort 0 is not allowed on some servers because it shows the smoke from smoke grenades as thin smoke as opposed to the thick stuff you get when the default fx_sort 1 is enforced :)Someone got kicked and the logs showed this message:
[06.26.2006 04:22:53] VIOLATION (CVAR) #9001: ^3Big^2Bucking^8^7Chicken (slot #2) Cvar fx_sort = 0
What is this?

afaik there is a bug related to the nvidia gfx card drivers and settings that create a pbss blocker effect .. there are also a few issues within ET after the last pb update re pbss .. we have reports of duplicate pbss being created and lag issues .. i personally have elected to disable autoss on servers i run till those problems are addressed .. in the meantime we will triple check all the future pbss submissions for any of the above issues before anyone is placed on the MBI :)

FEAR server is streaming fine .. SOF2 one is not ..its been added but you need to check your settings for that server :)

as always we can look but unless that pbss was taken off a streaming server there aint much to be done about it .. we would need to see the original .png too :)

ok, cause i had been banned under rolexdude, not intentionally cheating, and i saw the box turned red, and i havent gotten an email with my appeal reply, so i was just wondering

an automated mail was sent out on your appeal decision - if you think this ban is unjustified or mistaken you can try opening a trouble ticket with evenbalance

when viewing somebody in the Master Ban Index (MBI), and it says
Ban Appealed on (Date)
and there is a reddish tint to the box where the date is in, does that mean the ban is denied, or was done sometime before today?
the red tint means the ban exists in the mbi - the actual result of any appeal is sent via e-mail to the person concerned :)

Why does PunkBuster now require players to run the game as an administrator under WinXP/2K?
Because some cheats/hacks cannot be detected otherwise.
I keep getting kicked by PunkBuster for "Blocked O/S Privileges"?
Please temporarily disable other security type programs you have running such as anti-virus, process guard, SDProtector, etc. to find out which of them is blocking PB's access to resources on your computer. You either need to run PB without the blocking program(s) or play on non-PB servers. Also make sure you run the game under an Administrator or equivalent account under Windows. If you do have access an admin account, you can right click on the application you want to run and select "Run As". This will allow you to give admin access to that program and should allow you to play with a limited user.

Download and run this file from any location, it will check for adware that stops you from being able to play on PB servers. The VX2 adware edits your user rights when it infects your computer, and many programs do not repair this when they remove it.

Click the "Find VX2.betterinternet info" button to make sure that you don't have this adware. If there are no files listed, go on to the last step. If you find the adware files, (it is usually 3 random named dll files) Select all the files found.
Press 'Delete These Files'. The program will delete all files but one that will be deleted on reboot. Allow program to reboot. Once Restarted:
* Press 'Guardian.reg'.
* Press 'User Agent'.
* Press 'Restore Policy'.
Clicking on "find vx2.BetterInternet info" again should show all fields blank.
If you have no adware files, just click on the "Restore Policy" Button

Search IP server facility in the MSI on the main website will now check both the rep and hubfor streaming servers :D

I just wrote the config so I should have something in there now..:)
if you did not have a pbsv.cfg in your pb folder, that means your server is wide open to anyone that cares to join with a hack enabled .. the pbsv.cfg holds all the relevant commands to get autoss working / enforce pb cvar restrictions / etc etc .. if you take the time and trouble to get your server a bit better protected you will probably find that a lot of your casual players are cheaters ..they look for servers like yours to play on and use their hacks ..they get quite a shock when you suddenly catch them all "at it" :)

Ok got a question, if we are going to stream to more then one site, do we need to increase any of those numbers? like session stuff?? :unsure:

Man I can't find the answer to this at PB's admin manual. How do I autokick for PB violations? Do we have that option? A palyer gets the PB Hack 130035, and he just keeps on playin'. How do we set it to auto-kick or even auto-ban? Maybe I jus tmissed something simple...hehe.

atm the auto kick feature for pb violations is turned off at the master server (i think EB forgot about it) :P
when it kicks back in there are a lot of hardware bans going to be applied ..i hope the pc shops are prepared :)
to give pb a little help you can add this line to your pbsv.cfg
pb_sv_task 1 300 pb_sv_enablekicks
as hooligun pointed out ..if you use the PBBans new method of streaming click me all bans from every participating server will be added to all those servers pbbans.dat in real time :)

work is still ongoing as to how participating admins can check wether their server is streaming using the new method .. atm you will have to take our word for it, but like i said we are aware that admins would like to be able to view their server streaming and its on the "to do" list :)

Ace was nice enough to help us get our server streaming, thanks again. But, the infamous but, since we began streaming our server is lagging....terribly. Anyone who could be of any help please let me know.

Yep your catch was showing fairly quickly.
saves me downloading and merging pbbans.dat data
saves you downloading anything :P PBBans hub users can just sit back and all updates etc are done for ya :)

I thought it would be nice to create a post listing reliable game server providers (after getting enquiries in forum pm asking about it) .. this is not a place to air your whines about one GSP or another .. this is only for those GSP's that have a proven track record for reliability and good support :)

heh heh both CnN and ARC servers are now using PBUCON, cheers Foxdie, and within minutes the first ET update went through :-)

thanx guys I have applied to get my servers streaming with them just hope it doesnt cause issues with pbbans because if it does im with pbbans 100%
the other psb streamers who are using our PBBans hub have reported no issues what so ever :)

evenbalance will never reveal just how or what the process is for issuing hardware bans - suffice to say that many have tried circumventing it and many have failed :)
