    all forum account applications are validated before access is granted .. PBBans gives cheaters nothing .. and that includes a forum account .. having known hack cvars in your cfg normally indicates a toggle to activate hack features .. anyone with known hack cvars in their cfg that connects to a PBBans protected server will more than likely receive a ban .. or is there another reason why someone has sol_ cvars in their cfg .. its hardly something you would pluck out of thin air and add to your mp cfg .. i have the hack that uses the sol_ cvars right in front of me as i type,its written by *edit* hence the cvar connection .. it contains an aimbot/wallhack/esp/chams/enironmentals/and a miscellaneous section .. all can be toggled on and off using the cvars provided .. this is probably a lot more info than i should be giving out ..but i want anyone who has those cvars in their mp cfg to know exactly why we run those cvar checks on PBBans protected servers and what the result will be if anyone using those cvars joins a streaming PBBans protected server .. there is absolutely no reason to have those cvars in your mp cfg other than to toggle on and off one or more hack features .. its that simple

    Oh, so My anitvirus program set this thing off.

    Because it is the only thing that would be running then I was playing a game.

    I play on ATF server, Use to be alot till this.

    My son is in ATF.

    I have Zero Tolerance for cheating, But, I also have Zero Tolerance to be called OR to call others cheaters.

    As for deleteing the q3 folder, If I had known that I should not delete it so EvenBalance could see what caused it. I wouldnt have.

    Now you said that it was an outside program. If that is the case then I would still have that program on this computer. So Even Balance should be able to duplicate the condition.

    and like i said ..nothing more to say .. its only your say so that only an AV programme was running and only your say so that you did not change anything else on your system after the initial violation was raised .. anything else to discuss .. update your trouble ticket

    They never did answer the question Max.

    Same problem I have when I ask it anywhere.

    How can you fix something when nobody knows what it is?

    I use to defend PunkBuster when peeps whined about it, but now I understand what they mean.

    If pb is going to issue bans to peeps then they should have the decency to tell them what the ban is for, NOT some stupid number that means nothing - 80017(gamehack) WHAT IS A GAMEHACK???

    And what is a 80017 - GameHack - as Max asked

    How do you get it?

    How can you get rid of it if no one knows what it is?

    Why is deleteing the game wrong to get rid of it?

    How can you get rid of something if you dont know what it is that you need to get rid of???

     

    Answer thoses questions please.

    i thought the answers you received explained things perfectly Ager

     

    1. a gamehack is exactly what it says on the tin .. you were detected by punkbuster as having an outside programme running that was flagged as a hack when in game

     

    2. how do you get it - you download it and install it

     

    3. when you first got it you should have opened a trouble ticket and a member of evenbalance staff would have helped you troubleshoot your game to find exactly what caused the violation to be raised

     

    4. why is it wrong to delete and reinstall the game - its wrong because you have changed the gaming environment that caused the initial violation to be raised .. for all anyone knows you downloaded a cheat and when it got detected you immediately disconnected and removed it then claimed a false positive .. this has happened before so its important that your gaming environment is exactly the same as when the violation was first raised.

     

    5. the server admin only has your word that you did not know what you needed to get rid of ..and by changing your gaming environment you lost the chance to prove otherwise .. who is to say that you did not install a hack / get caught / delete it / then claim it was a pb error because after the deletion your game shows clean on every other pb enabled server

     

    conclusion: either play on another server or buy a new game so you can start afresh with a new guid .. no amount of whine on these forums will remove your ban from a server that does not even stream their logs to us and if ATF operate a zero tolerance policy no amount of whine will make them remove a bona fide PB catch from their pbbans.dat.

    your lucky in one way .. if ATF had of been streaming here your ban would have been applied to a lot more servers than just one and you would not have even got so much as a forum account to post your gripes on :)

    hopefully this time round you will understand the how's and why's and move on

    thread will be closed in a day or so because in effect there is nothing more to say

    i like change de COD CONSOLE windows name.

     

    when you have a lot of consoles , all this consoles says "CoD Console" , when i like modify anything in a specific server , a need use the sv_hostname in each one to see who is the server.

    This last PB update appears to be offering us the possibility to stream to 2 anti-cheat organizations like pbbans.com and punksbusted.com I just read through the new update info and came across the new PBUCON http://www.evenbalance.com/index.php?page=pbucon.php info. It does appear to be a little complex but, hopefully someone can figure out how server admins can stream to both psb and pbbans. If anyone gets this figured out I'll be glad to get my servers streaming to pbbans as well.

     

    thanks Dyno :) i can tell you that the trials are going better than we could have expected and Foxdie is writing a few additional goodies into the package as we type .. sooner rather than later would be my guess :P

    I think it is, but want to confirm.

    its a hack cvar and if detected on a streaming server will result in a ban :)

    Does anyone know what this violation actually is? (GameHack) #80017 There was a player who recently got ban for this violation on our server and he swears he is not a cheat. Any information would be great.

    a player came into our irc channel in the early hours of this morning .. the convo (edited) went something like this:

    short version depending what side of the fence your sitting on .. a player joins his regular server and gets a pb gamehack violation he immediately disconnects and uninstalls then reinstalls .. this in effect removes all traces of whatever it was that triggered that hack violation .. because your server is not streaming to an anti cheat site,the ban will only appear on your pbbans.dat and nowhere else .. so the player can connect quite freely to any other pb enabled server and not show any violation .. i dont know what your policy is m8 but i operate a zero tolerance policy on servers i run,and no matter what the excuse or circumstances i will never remove a bona fide pb detection catch unless evenbalance staff inform us that its a false positive :)

     

    of course you know the player a lot better than me, but in my experience if you remove one such ban for nothing more than "he's a regular" and i think it was a mistake on pb part .. then you might be opening a can of worms for any others who are on your banlist .. how much is Q3 to buy these days :P .. thats all it would take on his part to be able to play your server again

    Where to look up PB Hack numbers?

    if your logs have the full info that relates to these kicks:

    Violation (PB HACK) #130035

    Violation (PB HACK) #130179

    Violation (WALLHACK) #60203

    Violation (VIDEO DRIVER HACK) #90003

     

    and they all relate to the same player,then that player will be hardware banned pretty soon .. i can say that with confidence .. those type of kicks are 100% valid PB catches.

     

    not sure why your posting to say you have to be 100% sure ..you have the log info/pbss and the actual hack he was using .. i would say thats 10000000% sure lol.

     

    you can pass the actual hack he was using to any staff member via forum pm, we will then check if it exists in our cheat collection point.. if not we will dissect it and add the relevant cvar/md5 info to our Master Config Index.. and also mail it to [email protected]

    afaik cfg's were removed from the bannable items due to the fact its so easy to d/l them from a server in sof2 .. the actual hack checks still remain as bannable :)

    Becoming a Streaming Game Admin

    I was sent a PM a while back and it said that i was to ask a staff member to upgrade my account to Streaming Game Admin (by Foxdie).

     

    Servers are down at the moment (due to technical difficulties), but if they arean't streaming at the moment, could someone maybe help me out.

     

    Popular servers we have and we have caught many players hacking, i would like to do more than just ban them off the clans servers.

    atm your server(s) do not show in our repository .. if you have followed the directions in the streaming center re setup click me they will show as new server(s) and i can add your details for security purposes .. info i will need are the loguser and logpass that you have selected .. the clantag will be [RoOF] if you can pass that info via forum pm i will be ready for when your server(s) are back online .. once streaming is verified an upgrade in forum status follows .. hopefully that wont be too long.

    Linux Server & Punkbuster Issue!

    Hello, maybe someone can help me. I have Linux with Fedora core 4. I have installed Call of Duty UO: and the server works great, however when I try and start punkbuster i says bunkbuster is read only. I have tried everything I can think of and nothing works. I have left counter measures a email and got no response, I have talked to TWL admins, they have no idea.

     

    I have allowed full premissions too my pb folder, and updated to the newest files.

     

    I have added it too my startup command line, I have enter the 3 settings in my cfg file in different places, and everytime I try to enable it, samething, punkbuster is read only.

     

    Any ideas on how I can get this working ? I have tried reinstalling the game with pb, and no go at all. Samething.

    AFAIK the reason this happens is because the map(s) are loading before pb has had a chance to kick in

     

    try removing any map_rotate command if it exists in your server start file

    remove any map_rotate command from your server cfg

     

    when the server has started up .. confirm that pb has started and is running by issuing the pb_sv_ver command .. if it needs updating do so via pbsetup or pbweb

    add the map_rotate stuff back in and restart the server

     

    hopefully that will result in you having a fully updated and working pb on your server :)

    i see your server waiting to be added to the repository .. congratulations :)

     

    pm a staff member with your chosen username/password and clantag and your all set .. once streaming has been verified a forum upgrade will be applied.

    He's been caught with a cfg that's part of a cheat. If the server was streaming he'd have become a resident on the MBI.

    not quite true ..the hack exe and dll are on the bannable items but the cfg was not on the bannable items ..i think this was due to how easy it is to download a cfg via a rogue server but not completely sure :)
