Do you think server companies will be charging extra to upgrade from ts2 to ts3, I am paying quarterly and don't want to pay for another 3 months just to get ts3.

Anyone own or know any public servers to test it with?

The official TS3 beta server details are actually filled in already if you hit connect. Wasn't working before, but it is now.

Protip: Turn off the sound notifications of people joining/leaving/switching before you join the server, or you will go insane.

Errrrm, just me is this not backward compatible with TS2 servers?

If that is the case the dev's at TS need a slap.

Q: Can I upgrade my TeamSpeak 2 server database to TeamSpeak 3?

A: No. Too many things changed. New protocol, new format, new user management system, new everything...

Q: Can I connect with a TeamSpeak 2 client on TeamSpeak 3 or vice versa?

A: No. TeamSpeak 2 and 3 are not compatible. So a client can only connect to the same server version. But of course you can

continue using your TeamSpeak 2 client until your favourite servers have updated to TeamSpeak 3.

Makes sense, mw2 can't connect to a cod4 server :P

Fair enough, I'll be honest and say I didn't bother reading any of the docs. I was just responding to players queries and confirmed this myself.

In which case it would have been nice of TeamSpeak to include a download link to the v2 on their temporary page.

I still prefer the new Mumble 1.2 (Clicky) over any other VOIP, but TS3 is a massive improvement over TS2. Pretty sure Ventrilo will start noticing the competition. Ventrilo's main selling point so far has been voice quality, which is now matched by TS3.

There are a lot of complains about the voice qualities from half of the users. Playing around with all currently available codecs makes me feel the closest to the sound of a voice of a buddy I know in real life, using the lowest quality codec with a quality level of 7.

TS3 looks good, but perhaps this is due to the fact it is new. Voice qualities are not improved much ... as far as I understand, there will be future codecs in the final release, probably much better in quality but higher latency though.

The security system is impressive and features a much better system than earlier releases.

Kind of curious to know that is TS3 better then vent? Anyone using both? I might try it in next week but I would like to know more opinions.

Thank you.

It still won't out-do Vent, imo. I've read about it, not tested it. Just reading results here and a few other forums has me convinced that Ventrilo is the way to go, as usual. Ventrilo works best for voice sound, major codec's and best connection. TS never has, and likely, never will, even with dedicated servers, it's antiquated, at best.

My opinion, only.

I'd have to agree, I use both, TS2 (not version 3 yet) to chat to my own clan and sometimes Vent to chat to other clans, I find Vent more user-friendly (not sure if that's the right word) but I do prefer the latter.

I have TS2 Vent and mohawk, vent is far the better of all 3, however not tried TS3 yet. Will do soon tho.
