SuperTaz Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 Good Game interviewing Treyarch about Call of Duty: Black Ops http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9qxG8LmquCM Also, here is an update for COD:BO: http://twitter.com/JD_2020/status/18946905657 1 Quote
MaydaX Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 It's shaping up to be something worth buying unlike the rest of what's coming out. I just hope they listen to what the fans want and not try to cut features and tell them they don't need it. http://img704.imageshack.us/img704/7302/moderngames.png If they have the ability to make your own servers I will be a very happy person, getting very sick of the trusted provider crap. 2 Quote

Kite Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 Demo recording has been confirmed by pcdev at the CoD: Black Ops forums. demo recording: confirmed -pcdev- http://bit.ly/dkCFEI Quote
MaydaX Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 Most likely means there is also a command console. Now it's shaping up to be a winner. Lets hope they make a lot of the grey boxes green in this table and I will support it fully. http://img704.imageshack.us/img704/7302/moderngames.png Quote
SuperTaz Posted July 26, 2010 Author Posted July 26, 2010 The game is looking better already. :) 1 Quote
Everson Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 Let's hope PB/Public Server Files are announced soon! Quote
MaydaX Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 demo recording: confirmed -pcdev- cod:black ops will allow US and EU to play MP together. -pcdev- Scroll wheel - yes. Prone - yes. -pcdev- Shiny new server browser: confirmed. -pcdev- The good news is that the pc version of cod:black ops will allow you to play either way so bring on the kb+mouse vs controller matches! -pcdev- cod:black ops will run on XP, Vista, and Win7. -pcdev- We decided to have dedicated servers for this title from the very beginning of the project. We have not wavered from this for a moment. CoD Black Ops PC has dedicated servers. Definitely. -pcdev- You will be able to lean, here's a teaser...there's something new about prone in this one. http://bashandslash.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=983&Itemid=131 http://www.callofduty.com/board/viewtopic.php?f=71&t=252253 Quote
=GoMg=THE__DRIFTER Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 Maybe yet there is some hope for online gaming? Quote
Everson Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 ... come on PunkBuster and Public Server Files... *fingers crossed* Quote
hellreturn Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 ... come on PunkBuster and Public Server Files... *fingers crossed* If that happens, I will cancel my BC2 server for good. My BC2 server at gs.com still crashes like each day or so when server is full. Not going to miss BC2 anyways. Quote
Kolor Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 If that happens, I will cancel my BC2 server for good. Agreed. If this pans out the way we hope I'll turn off our BC2 servers and will finally be able to have full access to our server again. Stupid ranked restrictions. Quote
MaydaX Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 ... come on PunkBuster and Public Server Files... *fingers crossed* Actually CoD never had public server files. The ability to run a server was included in the client which is why you have to upload gigs of data to run a server where other games that have server files the files usually are much smaller. The reason for no files is security reason in BC2 / MoH is security reasons which also means they won't release any server code in the client to make onslaught P2P for example. Looks like CoDBO will have co-op modes etc so the server code has to be included for it to work: # Improved matchmaking and server browser. # Modern Warfare 2's host migration will be included. http://www.cod7blackops.com/?10-cod7-hands-on-summary/ As for PB I have a feeling it may use VAC. Just looking at a possible trend with Activision developers that have used PB in the past who have now switched to VAC. IW for MW2 and Splash Damage for Brink have done it so far. Honestly if PB is the only think missing I will still buy it. Gameplay is always #1 with me over PB or DX11 eye candy. http://img827.imageshack.us/img827/7302/moderngames.png Quote
Everson Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 Actually CoD never had public server files. The ability to run a server was included in the client Same difference :P Quote
Pisi-Deff Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 Honestly if PB is the only think missing I will still buy it. Gameplay is always #1 with me over PB or DX11 eye candy. I'll have to agree. http://img827.imageshack.us/img827/7302/moderngames.png Dev console is confirmed as well :D Quote
MaydaX Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 Dev console is confirmed as well :D confirmed where? Quote
Pisi-Deff Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 confirmed where? Took me a bloody while to refind that thread... stupid cod forums... Anyway... http://www.callofduty.com/board/viewtopic.php?f=70&t=237437&sid=dc0f90daa6fe9bbb9eafb45322bfb89a PC details:- Dedicated servers and the developer console returns. -pcdev: "demo recording: confirmed" Okay, I might have been wrong... :/ OP is making an assumption on that. injuneer Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 Host migration and matchmaking was all I needed to see to say no. Quote
HSMagnet Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 # Improved matchmaking and server browser. # Modern Warfare 2's host migration will be included. Host migration and matchmaking was all I needed to see to say no. that is for co-op, right? dedi servers for MP would not need matchmaking and host migration....then again, lots of weird stuff in games lately Quote
SuperTaz Posted July 28, 2010 Author Posted July 28, 2010 It will be similar to Medal of Honor where you can have the game choose a server for you or you can choose through a server list. Yes, MP will have dedicated servers. 1 Quote
Everson Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 I agree; just because host migration and match making is in the game it doesn't mean we won't see the true dedicated servers we're use to. This is where MW2 went wrong, they did a complete replace instead of introducing "new" "easy" features for the apparent demand for those features. There's no doubt that MW2 could survive with both. Quote
Everson Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 Yet another reason for COD:BO to use PB... http://www.pbbans.com/forums/valve-reversing-accidental-steam-bans-t125740.html I think EB would have noticed this issue a lot sooner had they being doing AC instead of VAC; besides we certainly would have noticed once our MBi started filling up! Live Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 Looking good, I can't wait until it's here and hopefully things don't change from what's been stated thus far. Quote
UrGonnaDie Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 :( i wont be able to nuke everyone in CoD:BO :P Quote
SuperTaz Posted August 4, 2010 Author Posted August 4, 2010 http://twitter.com/JD_2020/status/20255257106 That said, CODBlackOps will have solid host selection and location based matchmaking :). 1 Quote
