Crotan Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 Ouch that read was not very encouraging at all. On a side note, you need SourceBans for your l4d server then. Admin lists/ ban lists and immunity levels across all your servers Quote
buttscratcher Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 C'mon guys. :) Lets not worry to much about that. Just a blurb from a magazine. The meat and potatoes are due out in a little while. Gimme my admin tools, and a battle recorder, and I'll be a happy camper. Quote
HSMagnet Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 (edited) Ouch that read was not very encouraging at all. On a side note, you need SourceBans for your l4d server then. Admin lists/ ban lists and immunity levels across all your servers not when the game first dropped you had no control other than starting/stopping the server, for the most part hell finding and getting in your own server was a PITA to begin with *edit* and no matter what the announce, i will wait and see what actually drops Edited September 2, 2010 by HSMagnet Quote
UrGonnaDie Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 :P i want my dedicated servers but either way im buying the game no matter what they do with it. I play MW2 everyday and love the game it has its got its down side but the main thing i care about is having fun. Quote
HSMagnet Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 meh main thing for me is a game that my community can support and vice versa i can play several games i already have for pure fun Quote
SuperTaz Posted September 2, 2010 Author Posted September 2, 2010 Follow the events here: http://twitter.com/jd_2020/mp-reveal Here is a picture from a GamesRadar representative at the event lol: http://yfrog.com/3tqefj Edit: TGN has confirmed Public Server Files for COD:BO 1 Quote
SuperTaz Posted September 2, 2010 Author Posted September 2, 2010 Wager matches now live on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kg_8mPoloBo Quote
Kite Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 Bad news... all from Josh Peckler's twitter. It seems servers will be rented out to only GameServers.com JoshPeckler Let's do this! First off dedis will be rented from GameServers only! Unranked and ranked! Fully customisable! #codblackops #pc http://twitter.com/JoshPeckler/status/22766249936 Unranked servers will be fully customisable! Ranked I think you can customise the map/gametypes! #codblackops #pc NO Server files...but TGN and Josh are conflicting right now. So not 100% yet. There are no public server files... @tgn is full of it... #codblackops #pc No PB, using VAC. Steam exclusive. #codblackops will be a steam exclusive game using VAC #pc /record is in and theatre. The #pc sku will have "/record" and the theatre mode #codblackops Spectator mode is in. There will be a Spectator mode in #codblackops on the #pc 1 Quote
SuperTaz Posted September 2, 2010 Author Posted September 2, 2010 Steam and VAC for PC Black Ops! http://twitter.com/TGN/status/22766514983 It seems there is confusion at the event about public server files. There are no public server files... @tgn is full of it... #codblackops #pc 1 Quote
Crotan Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 haha welp there goes that one for good old clan fun, VAC yikes. Have fun in those wager matches without PB Quote
Kite Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 All tweets from TGN twitter http://twitter.com/TGN Server files re-confirmed...sort of. There are dedicated server files but all servers only through gameservers.com only "Public" server files, in the sense we were told, applies to the fact there is nothing like IW.net this time around Ranking is server side apparently, not stored client-side There will be RCON tool and mod/map tools. Mod tools after release DRM is Steamworks, Anti-cheat is VAC Spectator and demo recording is included Quote
Crotan Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 (edited) Were going to need something like SourceBans because on the little fact that it has demo recording local bans will be at an all time high. I heard PBBans was going to expand into a Demo submission only arena and create a MBi for COD: Black Ops hint hint Edited September 2, 2010 by Crotan Quote
Piggy Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 Well there goes Streaming Good going Treyarch lol Quote
SuperTaz Posted September 2, 2010 Author Posted September 2, 2010 The dev's themselves did not confirm Steam and/or VAC, only others. But, if it is confirmed with those by the dev's, then there will be no support from us. At least as of now. BTW, I may still get the game even though it could have steam and vac. Evenbalance better get the ball rolling somehow and get more contracts or they may be in the unemployment line soon. It looks like future activision games are going to be all VAC and Steam exclusive. 1 Quote
hellreturn Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 Dedicated servers from gameservers.com only? :o Quote
Crotan Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 Dedicated servers from gameservers.com only? :o What it's looking like they just put up their PreOrder page within the hour. $14.95 18 players max which is pretty damn low on both the slot count and monthly price side Quote
Everson Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 VAC? Pffft, not even getting a pre-order out of me. Never ordered MW2, never going to. Quote
DarthRogue Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 As of the BO multiplayer reveal tonight, it seems as though BO will be using VAC. How could you let this happen PB!?!?!?!? I know, it wasn't your call. But it's a dam shame regardless. Quote

Kolor Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 Seems gameserver.com only have dedi's available in NY/NJ only too. Shambles. Quote
Kite Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 Seems gameserver.com only have dedi's available in NY/NJ only too. Shambles. Dunno what you saw, but this is what I saw on the order page. I mean come on, 18/24 player max. Seriously? What happened to the days of 50-64 player max? 1 Quote
Everson Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 I mean come on, 18/24 player max. Seriously? What happened to the days of 50-64 player max? Was only real 32 which was officially supported, but 18 is definitely far less. Quote
Kolor Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 I was referring to dedicated servers, not a game server. Quote
Kite Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 I was referring to dedicated servers, not a game server. Thanks for the clarification. Bit confusing :P 1 Quote
mdgrunt Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 The 18 player limit is a clue that the maps will be SMALL! Another console port over, they probably didnt even want to have dedi servers, but came up with this plan after the last mess. Quote
